How to make a mayonnaise mouse (with a little help from Raymond Blanc)

Henri Le Worm: The Missing Cookbook, a fun new app for the iPad was launched today at Brasserie Blanc in Covent Garden. We were very excited to be invited to the launch event, especially as Simon Pegg, who lent his voice to Henri, attended the event too! After the speeches we took part in a cooking demonstration hosted by Raymond Blanc, who created the recipes for the app. Henri Le Worm was created by Raymond Blanc’s son Olivier Blanc and actress Charlotte Salt. It is a fun interactive app for children aged two and above to enjoy with the aim…

    Inspect-A-Gadget

We were invited to take part in a little challenge to find the best budget travel gadgets for 2013, called ‘Inspect-A-Gadget’. We’re a family who love our gadgets so I couldn’t resist. Over the last couple of weeks we’re been using an Android Tablet. I have to admit that my husband and I both have iPhones and iPads (he has the big one, I have the small) and Macs. Like I say, we LOVE being connected and whenever we go away checking we have packed the necessary power cables is top of our list. Back to the challenge. Moneysupermarket.com wanted…

Myro, The Smallest Plane in the World

The toddler is very lucky for he was recently sent a lovely picture book and audiobook featuring Myro, the smallest plane in the world. Aimed at pre-schoolers, this is a series for children which follows the adventures of Myro as he settles into his new home in Australia. Myro is created and published by Nick Rose, who bought a Microlight in 2004 and flew it around Australia. He then began developing the series when he realised there was a gap in the market for a quality series of children’s story books and iPad story Apps about aeroplanes that encourage children…

Why my 8 month old needs an iPad

Over the last few weeks the 8 month old has been taking a noticeable interest in iPhones and iPads. The toddler is allowed to play some games on our iPad and watch YouTube for about 30 minutes a day. He’s also allowed it on long car journeys. I’m not sure how but the 8 month old and toddler have started to fight over the iPad! Sometimes I’m lucky and can placate one with an iPhone. Last night we had the discussion about buying another iPad so the kids don’t fight over it. There must be a serious problem with my…

The Great British Bake Off (iPhone app review)!

I’ve always loved baking but The Great British Bake Off has really encouraged me to be a bit more adventurous with my baking. I still have baking disasters (too many to mention) but I love baking and seeing people enjoy what I’ve made. The new series of The Great British Bake Off aired this week and a new iPhone app is available to download for the first time (priced £2.99). The app contains fifty fabulous recipes to whip up at home and are all based on The Great British Bake Off books published by BBC Books in conjunction with Love…

Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day

I’ve been quite naughty and shown the 8 month old the iPad and now she knows it is a window to a whole new world of fun! She is very like her brother and will be tech-happy, like daddy too. We were offered a new iPad app to review and as it combined two of my favourite things – buttons and museums – I said yes. Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful book published by the V&A, Clara Button and her adventure at the museum has come to the iPad. Using the original illustrations by Emily Sutton and…

BT digital video baby monitor 1000 review

My new favorite toy is the BT video baby monitor we were recently sent. Forget Mad Men and Alcatraz, the new show everyone is talking about is the Big Brother Show. In his cot bed at 7pm every night I thought he was putting his head down and sleeping. Thanks to the lovely new video monitor I find he is actually standing up, sitting down, lying down, standing up, sitting down, lying down until he eventually drops off! It’s definitely an eye opener. The Digital Video Baby Monitor 1000 is the latest in the range and gives you a video…

    Miffy’s garden app

I love it when a classic storybook character is brought to life which is why we’re very happy that the iconic white bunny, Miffy,  is the star of a new iPad app. Miffy was created by Dutch illustrator, Dick Bruna, nearly 60 years ago and the App offers a great new way for parents with young children to share the delights of this classic storybook character. Miffy’s garden app The App features Miffy’s Garden based on the story by Dick Bruna , and brings to life the story of when Miffy first discovers the joys of gardening with her parents.…
