I’m lucky that I still have my youngest daughter at home with me in the mornings, for the next couple of months before she heads off to Reception in September. Our mornings are filled with playing, baking, crafting and playdates. Today we baked a batch of daisy cakes, so called because the tops are decorated with cherries and flaked almonds to look like flowers. Whilst they were in the oven my 4 year old got out her Mr Kipling Cake Stand playset. Everyone adores Mr Kipling’s cakes! The Mr Kipling Cake Stand playset from Casdon features replicas of the much-loved cakes…

I’m always surprised that my children love anything with small beads but they do. It’s been drilled in to them that they have to be careful, but they are, and I love that the benefits of this kind of toys are huge. Both children love Aquabeads and I like the fact the beads stick with a simple spray of water. Last week we received one of the new Aquabeads Playsets to review – the Minnie Mouse Playset. We’d actually seen this Playset in our local toy shop so my 4 year old was really happy to open it. I think this is…

Did you have a Mr Frosty when you were younger? I vividly remember watching the adverts for them in the 1980s but sadly never had one. Which is why I was so happy to hear they have been brought back so I can try it with my children! It no longer comes with unhealthy syrups and and is now easier for children to use. With the Mr Frosty Crunchy Ice Maker you can make your own delicious frozen treats. He comes with everything you need to create your own crunchy ice, fruity ice shapes and ice lollies! We filled up our ice trays…

Whenever I pop into my 4 year old’s nursery they always say how much she loves small world play. In fact she loves it so much they make a point of showing her other activities to make sure she gets the right balance of play. At home her favourite small world toys are her Sylvanian Families and she now has the most amazing collection. She has a range of buildings but she can often be found with the animals and their accessories. The recent warm weather has been perfect for small world play outside. We’ve been taking our Sylvanian Families outside…

I know I keep going on about the weather but it’s been warm, and sunny, which means the children can play outside more! They love playing outside and our tuff spot is one thing which really facilitates outdoor play. Farm life small world play with Schleich We were sent some of the new sets from the Farm Life range from Schleich to review. There are some toys that my children return to again and again and these are their Schleich toys. Schleich make great quality figurines and accessories which are perfect for imaginative play. Each item is very detailed and hand painted. We received some of the new animals and accessory sets from Schleich’s Wild Life range, which are suitable for pre-school children: The Shark Set, contains three of the most dangerous sharks: the blue shark, the tiger shark and the white shark. This set compliments the Schleich Ocean figurines set we have and has been well played with in our tuff spot. They are…

My house is filled with two small people and their toys. They love small plastic toys and if they can collect them with their weekly pocket money, even better. The latest toys to launch are Num Noms, scented food-related collectibles which appear in the form of mini lip glosses and motorised characters. My 4 year old was sent a Num Noms Starter Pack to review. Get ready for the new playground craze this Easter as Num Noms open up a new world of play – with a cupful of cuteness and a spoonful of surprise! Featuring miniature characters inspired by sweet foods…

We are a family which loves Lego. We have more Lego sets than we can display in our living room and my 6 year old have a Lego collection to rival any adult. He has a homemade Lego table and storage system which I have previously written about but we’ve recently bought him a new bed and changed his room around and he basically is not interested in keeping his Lego sets separate (much to my annoyance!). Our Lego storage is pretty simple; named drawers for each type, so Lego Minecraft, Lego Arctic, Lego Superheroes, Lego Star Wars, etc. It…
