Saying Goodbye to Your Elf on the Shelf as Your Kids Are Teenagers

The holiday season brings with it a blend of nostalgia and tradition. For many families, one of the most cherished and magical traditions is the arrival of the Elf on the Shelf. For years, this little scout elf has served as a whimsical observer, moving around the house to keep an eye on children’s behaviour and reporting back to Father Christmas each night. However, as your kids grow older and enter their teenage years, the time eventually comes to say goodbye to the elf. This marks the end of a chapter in the holiday tradition and can be both bittersweet…

Rick Roll Elf on the Shelf

Do you have a Scout Elf who comes from the North Pole to make sure your kids are behaving ? We’ve had our elves for a few years now and built up a stack of mini props so they can make the kids laugh each morning. My kids are now 12 and 13 so unfortunately don’t believe in all the Christmas magic that they used to. Thankfully they haven’t told me explicitly yet, so we are still having fun with our elves! I love that our Christmas traditions have changed whilst the kids have grown up. Whilst we no longer…

    Easy snowman door free printable

Our two elves got up to a lot of mischief during December. Sometimes the elves just moved around our house, but they also did some fun things, such as hiding candy canes for the kids to find or playing poker with chocolate coins. December is an expensive month so I like to make my elf activities as low cost as possible. Over the years we’ve been visited by our elves we’ve made a few printables to help with their elf-ish activities. Our free printable Elf on the Shelf twister board is always popular and I love to think that other…

Elf on the Shelf magic egg trick

It’s funny to think that we only introduced our children to Elf on the Shelf 5 years ago in 2016. It’s a really fun tradition and definitely helps make the run up to Christmas day go quickly. What is Elf on the Shelf? In case you haven’t heard of this tradition, it was started by Carol Aebersold and her twin daughters, Chanda Bell and Christa Pitts. We bought our Elf on the Shelf kit from Amazon, and it consists of the Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition book and your very own Scout Elf. The story goes that Santa’s Scout Elves…

    Elf on the Shelf selfies

For me December means planning some fun antics for our two elves. As the children are 10 and 11 I wondered if this would the year where they don’t believe the Christmas magic, but thankfully they still do! It’s so much fun to come up with a different idea for each day. I know that everyone does Elf on the Shelf differently, some people just move their elf every night, some have really naughty elves. We have two elves which means they can have fun together. Most elf activities can easily be adapted for two of more elves. One of…

How to make an Elf Isolation House

Do you have an Elf that visits on December 1st? We have two and I love coming up with ideas for them to get up to fun and mischief around the house. This year our house elves will be coming early so that they can quarantine in their very own Elf Isolation House. I toyed with the idea of them being in quarantine from December 1st but we want to have some fun with them, so they will be arriving early, all ready for adventures during December. Supplies: Clear bucket Elf Isolation House svg from Etsy red, black and white…

21 new Elf on the Shelf ideas

December whizzes by pretty quickly for any family but especially for parents who are trying to hide an Elf on the Shelf. My children still believe in the magic of Christmas so we were excited to bring out our Elf on the Shelf to bring some extra magic throughout December. This year I bought a few books and extra accessories to help me as there’s nothing worse than remembering you haven’t moved your Elf when you’re off to bed. I bought an Elf on the Shelf Gingerbread Activity Set, and two books – Elf On The Shelf Scout Elves at Play…

    Festive Elf painted rocks

This year we have been having lots of fun with our Elf on the Shelf. My children still believe in their magic and we love finding something for them to do each day. So far this festive season the elves have been cutting snowflakes out of toilet roll, helping my daughter with her epic jigsaw puzzle, leaving notes in the children’s lunch boxes and setting up a rock painting station. We love making painted rocks so thought this was a great opportunity to create some new festive elf painted rocks. We used: Bag of smooth pebbles or rocks Selection of…
