Last year we filled our diary with the steaming open days at Crossness Pumping Station. This has been on our bucket list of places to visit in London for years. With one child away we decided to take the tween and the dog to visit one of our bucket list places. {Exploring} Crossness Pumping Station Crossness Pumping Station is run by the Crossness Engines Trust and can be found in the London Borough of Bexley near to Abbey Wood Station. Built in 1865 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette as part of Victorian London’s sewerage system, Crossness Pumping Station is a Grade…

A few weeks ago we spent a weekend exploring North Greenwich. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express London-Greenwich, watched Keane perform at The O2 for their 20th anniversary Hopes and Fears Tour, and enjoyed exploring a new area the other side of London to where we live. The O2 is a great venue with plenty of places to eat, drink, shop and be entertained. Up At The O2 Now the kids are older our days out are different. We look for experiences that we will all enjoy, even if it means pushing our comfort boundaries (mine!). On our last…

Yesterday we booked tickets to attend RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024. It’s a place we’ve wanted to visit for years and this was the year. We booked tickets for Thursday and were really thankful we had as day was warm and sunny (not like the days before). We dropped the youngest at school before heading into London for our day out. Over the Easter holidays we enjoyed a few days away in Ironbridge, a pretty village in Ironbridge Gorge which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We planned some fun days out including, the Cat Cafe in Shrewsbury, a trip to the Emma Bridgwater Decorating Studio and the Boardroom Gaming Cafe in Telford. Games, in general, can be a great way to boost your brain power and help with skills building for kids and adults too. That’s why you should get yourself online as well, to play online games like solitaire or soduku. If there is any kind of board game…

Today we treated ourselves to a trip to the Emma Bridgewater Decorating Studio at her factory at Hanley, Stoke on Trent. I have a few pieces of Emma Bridgewater pottery and have always wanted to know more about how the pieces and decorated and made. Unfortunately all the experiences we wanted to go on, such as the factory tour and afternoon tea experiences, were sold out. Thankfully we found we could visit the Decorating Studio and paint our own pottery keep-sakes. The Emma Bridgewater Decorating Studio We booked our tickets to the Emma Bridgewater Decorating Studio online and turned up…

Today we visited Paws Cafe, a cat cafe in Shrewsbury. You all know how much we love to visit a Cat Cafe, as my son would much rather swap our dog for a cat! We found out about Paws Cafe online and booked a visit. Situated in a pretty building on Mardol, it was easy to find with parking on the street outside. Paws Cafe Shrewsbury We were welcomed inside, put our shoes into a locker, and went inside to choose out seats. Paws Cafe is large and we plumped for a comfy sofa. There are 11 lovely cats who…

Over half term we stopped off to visit Lacock Abbey and use our National Trust membership cards (which saves us a fortune on days out). Looking back at my blog archives and I can see I wrote a post back in 2013 entitled Family fun at Lacock Abbey. The children were so small on our last visit and couldn’t remember that we had been before. We were excited to bring them back to Lacock for another visit. Lacock Abbey with teens Lacock Abbey is a beautiful property in Wiltshire and a lovely place to visit. As we visited over February…
