Have you heard about Mrs Mactivity? They make fun boutique teaching and learning resources suitable for both parents and teachers. Their mission is to change the world through inspiring and fun learning resources that really motivate children to learn. Most of their resources are free, but as they don’t use advertising on their site, they charge a very modest fee of £9.97 per year to access everything. Mrs Mactivity’s World Cup 2018 Wall Planner My children loved their Royal Wedding colouring activity sheets so I was delighted to find some fun resources for the World Cup which starts this week. The 2018 FIFA…

One thing I have started to notice about my 6 year old is that she loves to be outside after school. Whilst my 8 year old is happy playing with Lego or on the Playstation, my 6 year old is drawn outside. Recently she has been enjoying our homemade mud kitchen and keeps asking for water to make her magical mixtures. We’ve spent some time tidying up our garden recently. We took down a tree that was blocking a lot of light which has made it feel bigger and sunnier. We don’t have a lot of luck with plants but…

Have you ever heard of Scientist Dress-up Day? Goodness knows how anyone comes up with these days but the school newsletter gave us at least a weeks warning of the latest dress up day at school. Yes, Scientist Dress-up Day is now a thing. What is Scientist Dress-up Day? Friday 8th June is Scientist Dress-up Day. On Friday children can go to school wearing a ‘lab coat’ decorated with words and pictures linked to science. With two children at school we seem to have a lot of strange requests, but this is one of the craziest. DIY Scientist Dress-up Day lab coat…

The 2018 Tour de France will be the 105th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling’s three Grand Tours. It’s an annual male multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. Like the other Grand Tours, it consists of 21 stages over a little more than 3 weeks. A few years ago we came up with our Tour de France inspired bicycle craft for kids. Today we’re sharing another fun bicycle craft for kids, inspired by the Tour de France. Tour de France bicycle craft for kids We used: green…

Did you know that the Queen celebrates her birthday on the second Saturday in June? It’s a bit of a vague date as it’s not her real birthday. Her actual birthday is April 21st but her official one is later this month. To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday we had fun with our London Guards craft stick activity. Let me show you them. We love living in London, especially when the sun is shining. It’s great to be a tourist in our own city and walk past our favourite landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, Downing Street or the Houses of…

There are so many sporting events coming up that I wanted to try making some mini flags with the children. We’re not huge sport fans but it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement of the World Cup, Wimbledon or the Tour de France. We have been talking about flags and recently had fun crafting flags on painted rocks and making a craft stick union flag. For our mini flags we used a sheet of white card, scissors and a pack of Color’Peps Long Life pens from Maped. World Cup mini flags activity for kids I cut the…

The children are really looking forward to Father’s Day next month. They’ve been working on their handmade gifts for a while. They just love making handmade gifts and I like to think they mean a little more than a generic shop bought gift. We’re lucky to have half term in front of us, so I hope you are inspired by our Father’s Day personalised handprint bag and get crafting for Fathers Day! Personalised handprint bag for Father’s Day Personalised gifts make a great keepsake. I’m probably a little guilty of keeping everything my children make, but they grow up so quickly…

Are you celebrating the Royal Wedding on Saturday? If so, how? I really wish it was taking place during the week so we could all have an extra day off! However both children are doing something special at school. My Year 3 boy was having a Royal tea party at school today, and my Year 1 daughter has been buys making a crown which they were all wearing to lunch. Both of them had to wear something red, white or blue to wear too. We had a little tea party at home to watch the last Royal Wedding and I’m…

Did you know that National Sandwich Week is celebrated between May 20th and May 26th? We were challenged to celebrate it with Num Noms, those cute little scented food-related collectibles. My daughter loves to collect them so it was pretty easy to ask her to help create a lunch around her favourites. Celebrating National Sandwich Week with Num Noms We were sent a bundle of Num Noms products to help us create our Num Noms inspired bento lunch. My children love a themed lunch and the weather was lovely and sunny over the weekend which meant it was perfect for packing…
