What I made in November 2024

November was definitely a colourful month, as well as a month of finishing off. I had several little projects covering my desk so I worked hard on finishing them and giving myself some much needed space. What I made in November 2024 First up was a Cotton Clara Father Christmas cross stitch. Half way through stitching I had a horrible feeling I’ve already stitched this kit, so perhaps I’ll find it when we get the decorations down. I changed the colours slightly from pink to red (I love a traditional Father Christmas). Then I made the Felt Christmas Jumper kit…

    Embroidered Christmas jumper felt kit

I’ve been on a bit of a roll lately and am happy to show you another finished make today. As you know I’ve been enjoying the Love Embroidery cover gifts.  Issue 59 of Love Embroidery came with an Embroidered Christmas Jumper felt kit. I’ve always enjoyed working with felt so had to stitch it. The Embroidered Christmas Jumper felt kit included the pre-cut felt shapes, baker’s twice and 3 thread shades. I transferred the pattern from the magazine onto baking parchment and pinned it to the felt shapes. I started stitching but soon realised I was going to have the…

Love Embroidery hoop kit Christmas tree

A few weeks ago we had a lovely trip to Paris. I packed a couple of little craft kits to keep me busy, a felt bauble kit and a Christmas tree kit from Love Embroidery magazine. The hoop kit Christmas tree included a piece of printed fabric, 4m green embroidery thread, a pink 4″ hoop, as well as 11 sequins. Love Embroidery hoop kit Christmas tree I gave the fabric a quick iron before we went away and placed it in the hoop, so was able to start stitching on the train. Using the green thread, I added branches to…

    Love Embroidery felt bauble kit

When I was tidying my craft space I came across the Love Embroidery felt bauble kit from issue 32 (published in 2022). The kit was designed by Nancy Nicholson and included 7 pre cut felt pieces, embroidery and sewing thread and ribbon. All you need to provide is a needle, scissors, tracing paper and a thin piece of card to go between the felt layers to add stiffness. The kit had been sitting in a drawer for a while so I took the pieces out and gave the piece of ribbon a quick iron to remove the crease. Then I…

What I made in October 2024

Two weeks ago I visited the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. I had a great day out exploring the exhibitions and attended three different workshops too. I’ve written about my trip here and shared some photos of some of the displays which were really inspiring. I chose three workshops: Foundation Paper Pieced Liberty Heart, hand quilting for beginners and Stitch, Patch and Play with Jessie Chorley. The foundation paper piecing was quite difficult as you add the layers back to front against the paper. I completed it at home and just about ended up with a heart. The hand quilting class…

What I made in September 2024

So we are over half way through the year and the long evenings make me reach for my sewing. I love seasonal crafting and have been picking out some new projects to make. Have you heard of Sewing Street? They kindly sent me their brand new hanging plants embroidery kit to try out. Featuring a pre-printed panel with four designs, I chose the one I wanted to stitch. It came with a booklet full of stitches so you can choose the stitches you use to embroider over the pattern. It’s such a lovely idea and has been a real joy…
