Kiko's Cat Cafe in Rye

Kiko’s Cat Cafe in Rye

Posted on March 21, 2025April 13, 2025 by jenny

Over half term we spent some time exploring the pretty village of Rye with the teens. I found some fun activities to keep the teens busy. I didn’t think Rye was large enough to have a cat cafe until we drove past Kiko’s Cat Cafe! Fortunately we were able to book a table online, and made a visit to Rye’s cat cafe.

Kiko’s Cat Cafe in Rye

Kiko’s Cat Cafe is the only cat cafe in the UK dedicated to fostering rescued cats until they find their forever home. They have partnered with the People’s Animal Welfare Society to give rescued cats a second chance at life. This means that the cats you see on your visit are there until they find their forever home. When we visited 57 cats had been re-homed since Kiko’s opened in 2023!

There were 10 cats when we visited and there was information about each one on the wall. There were 2 rooms with lots of comfy seating (for humans and the cats), and we were shown to our table and given a menu. We opted for drinks as we visited mid-morning, although the food looked really good too.

The cats were all quite young and pretty playful. Some were fast asleep in their favourite spots whilst others were happy to wander around. There were plenty of toys but the cats seemed happy climbing and running along the walkways which had been built for them. The teens both took plenty of photos of the cats and were glad to be given a little bowl of cat food. This was something we hadn’t experience in any other cat cafe and was a nice touch.
