2020 has been the year of the puppy for us. In January we welcomed our little Bichon Frise to our house and life has never been the same since. As he plays such a big part in our family it’s only right that he gets included in our Christmas celebrations. This year he will have a stocking full of treats so I’m sharing some of our favourite gift ideas for dogs and those who love them.

Christmas gift guide for dog lovers

Personalised pet portrait from Caitlin Draws Things*

Personalised pet portrait from Caitlin Draws Things

Caitlin Draws Things is an illustrator making personalised prints and cards, of animals, pets and family portraits. Personalised prints are lovely gifts to give at any time of year but the festive season is a great time for giving something a little different.

Caitlin Draws Thing provided us with a portrait of our gorgeous Bichon Frise pup Chewie and I couldn’t wait to see the finished result. The A4 print is perfect to be framed and hung on the wall. I think she has captured his personality perfectly!

Caitlin Draws Things can be found on Etsy here and prices for pet portraits start at £22.50.

GumDrops Dental Hygiene Product*

GumDrops Dental Hygiene Product

Give your dog the gift of sweeter smelling breath, for when we are allowed to have visitors round again! GumDrops is chlorine free and actually neutralises the chlorine in tap water, making it more appealing to pets.

The anti-bacterial formula prevents bad breath and poor gum health. By targeting the bacteria that builds up in your pet’s mouth, GumDrops helps to fight plaque, prevent gingivitis and clean teeth and gums.

Simply add to your pet’s drinking water to clean their teeth as they drink. No more stress caused by toothbrush fights, just cleaner teeth and healthier gums.

GumDrops Pet Dental Hygiene Additive 1l costs £9.99 and is available from their shop.

Pet blanket from Kavee*

Pet blanket from Kavee

C&C eco-friendly fleece liner from Kavee which double as a gorgeous dog blanket. They come in two sizes and we have the smaller size in the gorgeous cow print. It is super soft and our little pup loves lying on it. The print is lovely and bold and we take it out with us so he knows to settle if we are somewhere new. Machine washable, dust free and hypoallergenic too.

Kavee was founded in 2016 offering complete, affordable C&C cages kit and other supplies. Find out more about them here.

SweetPee Pet Stain and Odour Eliminator*

SweetPee Pet Stain and Odour Eliminator

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a sweeter smelling home at Christmas? This is an enzyme-based product which breaks down the smell into its component parts, odourless carbon dioxide and water. It also contains a mild detergent which helps to lift and remove any stains.

SweetPee can be used outdoors on artificial grass, wooden decking and concrete patios; and indoors on carpets, flooring, soft furnishings and can also be used in the washing machine with your pet’s bedding. Anywhere there is a biological stain or smell – even the kitchen bin!

SweetPee Pet Stain and Odour Remover is priced £8.50 and available via their shop.

The Secret Life of a Vet by Rory Cowlam*

The Secret Life of a Vet by Rory Cowlam

Rory is the lead talent of CBBC show ‘The Pet Factor’ now on its 8th series. Rory is a respected voice within the veterinary industry with an ever-growing career in broadcast. His warmth and knowledge shines through on his regular appearances on programmes such as ITV’s Lorraine, BBC’s Blue Peter, CBBC HQ as well as BBC Breakfast and Sky News. A graduate from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015 he has since gone to a full-time career as a member of the Neighbourhood vet practice based in East Dulwich, London. A true believer in giving back Rory is an ambassador for charities such the RSPCA, StreetVet and works closely with The Dog’s Trust.

His book The Secret Life of a Vet outlines some really interesting topics in the life of a vet including:

    • Rory’s experience as a South London vet and a city veterinary practice
    • His battles with dyslexia and an intention tremor and how he has pushed through these to success in the veterinary world, but also the broadcast / media world

    • Mental health crisis within the veterinary industry – Rory is very honest about the tough times and his own battle with mental health

These are lovely ideas. I really like the picture of your dog idea.

It was one I wanted for my Sister in law but typically she already got herself one!

Maybe I’ll try some of the other ideas for her x

Sound great ideas here, I have two dogs and we always get them presents at Christmas we tend not to get toys though as one of mine can destroy them in minutes. I love the sound of the chews

It’s good to have an idea of what to get a dog lover. It helps those like me that don’t know much about dogs. Love the blanket.

I think it’s always nice to buy christmas presents for pets, although in our family there are only cats and not dogs. But I do find in shops it’s much easier to find presents for dogs x
