Christmas gift guide for crafty people

Christmas gift guide for crafters 2020

Posted on November 22, 2020February 21, 2023 by jenny

Disclosure: Products marked with an * were sent for inclusion in this gift guide, however all opinions are my own.

We’re a crafty family with several projects on the go at once. Our dining room table is always covered in half finished projects and we like nothing better than making something. Whilst I love my sewing and craft projects, my daughter loves baking, my son drawing and my husband designs things for his 3D printer. Our house is full of homemade and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The benefits of crafting are well known and I want my children to know how things are made, rather than just think anything can be ordered next day from Amazon! Christmas is a homemade affair for us, and as well as giving homemade gifts, I also love to give crafty gifts which I know we will get enjoyment from for a long time. The more sustainable the better. My final Gift Guide features a selection of gift ideas for crafters – crafty children, crafty adults and crafty families.

Christmas gifts for crafty kids

Lots of Lovely Art Box

The first gift for crafty kids has to be a LOLA box, these are magical monthly art boxes for children of all ages, bringing a regular experience of art and artists into their lives through their letterbox. My 10 year old loves art so I knew he would enjoy crafting one of these boxes with me.

I bought the Upcycled Christmas box because I loved the sound of it.  In preparation for Christmas this year make your own beautiful decorations, wrapping paper, cards, and lots and lots of gifts for your loved ones! In this limited edition Christmas box, create some gorgeous recycled wreaths inspired by Andy Warhol’s love of Christmas, and cardboard gingerbread houses inspired by the Museum of Architecture’s yearly gingerbread city exhibition. Boxes cost £27

Join Rob and learn to draw your favourite Christmas characters – from Polar Bears to Elves and from Father Christmas to a Snowman, this perfect present is packed with arts, crafts and festive fun. Draw With Rob at Christmas is priced £6.99.

Christmas gifts for crafty grown ups

Christmas Wreath Kit from I Do Handmade

I love a craft kit and was excited to collaborate with I Do Handmade recently who make a variety of creative kits. Created by mother and daughter team Becky and Wendy, I Do Handmade is on a mission to encourage everyone to give the gift of creativity this season. All kits are designed to help people switch off from the world and give busy lives a dose of calm by getting creative.

I love their Christmas Wreath Kit. For those thinking about trying mindful new projects in the New Year, I Do Handmade also offers all-year-round creativity kits including crochet, macrame and block printing kits. The Christmas Wreath Kit from I Do Handmade costs £20, take a look at their website for this and all their other craft kits.

Brass Himmeli Star craft kit

This was another craft kit I bought myself and really enjoyed making. Craft kits are a great way to try a new craft without investing in lots of equipment.

Tap into the Scandi trend with this geometric brass himmeli star kit. Himmeli are traditional Finnish decorations in geometric shapes made from straight reeds or tubes. The Brass Himmeli Star craft kit was fun to make and will look fantastic on my Christmas tree. I bought my kit from Cosy Craft Club and they are still available priced £22.00.

Cashmere fingerless gloves

Turtle Doves team specialises in turning pre-loved cashmere jumpers into practical and gorgeously soft new accessories. I couldn’t resist a pair to keep me warm at work and when I take the dog for a walk.

Cashmere is super soft and I picked up one of their Make Do and Mend boxes which included slightly marked cashmere fingerless gloves and off-cuts to customise them.
