Wands Ready: Fantastic Beasts/Wizarding World Wands installation London

We were in London last week and just had to stop off to visit the brand new Harry Potter Wand Walk. Have you heard about it?

Helping to raise awareness of Lumos, the charity set up by J.K Rowling which works towards ending the institutionalisation of children around the globe, the installation has been created with the City of London Arts initiative ahead of the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald next month.

Wizarding World Wands Supporting Lumos

Fantastic Beasts: Wizarding World Wands Supporting Lumos is a free installation, open to the public between 18th October and 12th November. Head down to St Paul’s Cathedral and turn towards the Millennium Bridge over to the south side of the river. Along Millennium Walk you will find 9 huge wands, each measuring around 15ft high.

It was insanely busy but we were able to get up close and see the huge wands belonging to some of our favourite Harry Potter/Wizarding World characters, including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Grainger, Dumbledore, Newt Scamander, Tina and Queenie.

Each Wizarding World Wand was on a base with supporting information, there was also a large screen featuring the trailer of the new Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. We all loved the installation and the kids ran around trying to see which name was on which plinth. The wands were huge (and pretty tricky to photograph) but it was fun to see them and the atmosphere was great.

Wands Ready!

The installation is there until the 12th November. Pop along on Wizarding Wednesdays’ and you’ll be treated to a series of fun events in the build up to the premiere of Fantastic Beasts 2 (including live musical  performances and wand training!). Plus, if you can, visit the installation at dusk, as the wands will be illuminated from 6.45pm every evening.

Whilst we were at the installation I bought myself an exclusive Newt Scamander pin badge in aid of Lumos. Buy a badge for your chance to win tickets to the London Premiere of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Wear your wand, unlock your power – and bring light to children’s lives.
