How is it half term already? The kids have only just gone back to school but already they are on a two-week break. Our first half term adventure was with the youngest teen. We decided on a trip to the theatre, some shopping and dinner would be fun.
High School Musical London at The Troubadour Theatre
I’m probably one of the only people who had never watched The High School Musical films, but I had other things to do when they first came out back in 2006, 2007 and 2008. My youngest teen recently watched them and asked to see High School Musical on stage. The Troubadour theatre is a great venue, we had previously visited in 2019 to see Dinosaur World Live. There were some great photo opportunities in the foyer, from a dressing table to the lockers, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to use them!
Celebrate 20 years of the Disney classic with this immersive new staging of the hit East High musical as the students navigate first love, friendships, self-discovery, all while juggling classes, basketball games, auditions, and the expectations of their peers.
The show includes all the unforgettable hits from the original movie, including Breaking Free, Get’cha Head in the Game, Stick to the Status Quo and We’re All In This Together.
Actors include Tobias Turley, Leonor Correia, Caitlin Tipping and Luke Bayer as Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan. Joining them are McFly’s Harry Judd as Coach Bolton and Disney icon KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus.
We had on stage seating which is a unique theatre experience that places audience members directly on the stage during the performance. I bought our tickets through TodayTix so we were unable to choose where we sat. However the on stage seating was pretty fun and generally a good viewing position, arranged in a basketball court bleacher-style configuration on stage. You don’t participate in the performance, but definitely get a different viewpoint. It was only the final song, which was performed more towards the main audience, where we felt we didn’t get such a good view.
The performance was incredibly energetic and we also enjoyed the stage design, which featured a row of classic lockers which were pulled out to make bleacher -style seats.
High School Musical London performances must end 3 January 2027
The show lasts for 2 hours 20 minutes including an interval
Strictly no phones during the performance, except for the finale
