A day at the Ally Pally Knitting and Stitching Show

Regular readers know every year I take myself off to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. Despite living in London I never feel that I have a good sewing shop near me so I love looking round all the different exhibitor stalls.

Ally Pally is one of my favourite buildings in London and it makes a great venue for the Knitting and Stitching Show. There are lot of large halls- one for the exhibitor stalls, an area for workshops, galleries showcasing some amazing work as well as tea rooms.

I’ve been every year for the last couple of years. Last year I attended a couple of workshops but I couldn’t find anything I wanted to try this year. Instead I spent a few hours looking at the different stalls and buying lots of beautiful fabrics.

I bought some gorgeous Moda Fat Quarters to make fabric pumpkins.

I couldn’t resist these lovely seasonal fabrics. One is to back a fabric Advent calender I have been making and I couldn’t resist the gingerbread fabric.

I also treated myself to a beautiful quilt kit from Alice Caroline. I’ve been admiring her Liberty shop for years and have her book too. I love Liberty fabric so bought the supplies to make a rainbow quilt, backed with the delightful Gallymoggers Reynard print from the Alice in Wonderland collection. I must have been trying to decide which fabric to use for about 15 minutes but the owner was very patient with me.

The shop had run out of quilt kits so I am eagerly waiting the postman every day in the hope my fabric parcel will soon be here.

I had a fabulous day at the Knitting and Stitching Show as usual. I also picked up some ribbons for the children so I shall be looking for some inspiration on Pinterest soon.

Every year I blog about my purchases to shame me into making them. Here are my previous posts:
