A sewing room for me?

It’s official! We’ve sold our lovely Edwardian cottage.

Over the last few months we’ve been busy de-cluttering, painting, building walls and hiding as much as possible in the shed(s). Our house was on the market for a week, is now off the market, and we’re ready for a new adventure in a different part of London.

We’ve had lots of people round to view, even before the photographer had been. We’ve also been arranging our own viewings which is exciting. I’d forgotten just how hard it was to keep the house clean and tidy though. Every day I was trying to leave it in a state suitable for any last minute viewings, which with a 1 and 2 year old was difficult. I fear I may have set myself up to fail on that one, so I’m very glad we’ve sold it.

Along with all our needs in our new house (home office for my husband, downstairs loo, storage, storage, storage, etc.) I’m hoping for some space for my hobby and craft supplies. I don’t mean the children’s art supplies, which are more or less permanently out, but my own stuff. Before children I loved to sew and make things. I’ve carried on buying craft books and fabric since they were born so have quite a stash!

At the moment everything is dotted around the house; there’s a hacked Ikea set of drawers turned sewing box here (covered in pretty Orla Kiely wrapping paper), a prettified Cath Kidston box of notions there, a drawer full of vintage handkerchiefs and embroideries under the stairs, and boxes of felt, fabric and buttons. It all adds up and I would love somewhere to put them all together when we move.

Along with sewing and blogging my hobbies have stayed pretty much the same for years now. I love to bake and research my family history. I do love these colder months where you don’t feel guilty about staying in!
