DIY Leia and Hans Solo frame

DIY Leia and Hans Solo frame {a Star Wars craft}

Posted on April 6, 2017April 6, 2017 by jenny

Our whole household loves Star Wars so I wanted to make some Star Wars themed art for the walls. We’ve recently re-arranged the pictures in our living room so it felt like a good time to make something to hang alongside our Pez Dispenser frame and vintage type drawer.

My husband and I are huge fans of the original Star Wars episodes. Unfortunately my 7 year old loves episodes 1-3. Luckily as we were making this we got to decide when went into it!

I didn’t want to use any of our Lego minifigures so bought a Hans Solo and Leia figure. I love Princess Leia and her relationship with Han Solo. They were going to get covered in hot glue so I knew it was easier to buy ones for this purpose than raid my son’s collection. As well as the figures, I bought a small Deep Box Frame from Hobbycraft, deep enough to fit the minifigures.

I found a vintage Star Wars book in a charity shop and picked a page to decorate the back of the frame. It featured the Millennium Falcon which was perfect for this little project. I cut it to the right size and glued it to the back of the frame.

Then I applied hot glue to the back of each minifigure and carefully placed them on the picture. I removed any excess glue with my scalpel.

This was a quick and easy craft and would make a great Valentine’s gift. I’m thinking of making something similar for my son’s bedroom with his favourite Star Wars droids.

    I love little lego figures, I have a few of their keyrings. Love the frame.

    This is such a good idea! I love that you’ve used a page from a vintage book as the background too, it looks perfect!

    I was just wondering which box frame you bought as I want to do something similar for my wedding decor.

      It’s from Hobbycraft, the outside frame measures 12cm, the inside frame 8cm.
