playing small world with Schleich

Educational Play the Schleich Way

Posted on June 9, 2016April 11, 2017 by jenny

My 4 year old loves small world play. She often spends her mornings building small worlds in the tuff spot with her favourite toys. We’ve built up a great collection of Schleich toys and these are perfect for small world play. In fact there is so much play potential with them that Schleich have created a free 16-page brochure which is designed to be a guide to the best in imaginative play and development (link in sidebar).

The brochure covers topics such as a balanced play diet, encouraging imagination and early language skills. It also comes with helpful hints and tips on how to get the best from your child’s playtime and how you can incorporate Schleich products.

I was really interested to read the brochure. It’s packed full of interesting ideas about the benefits of imaginative free play. Did you know that just like ensuring your children have a balanced diet they should also have a balanced play diet? It’s important they they get the right balance between active play, social play, creative play and free play. You can find out more about this in the brochure.

There are also fun game ideas on how to get the most from your Schleich toys, such as setting up scenarios for your children to continue, and ideas on how to include siblings and other children which is great for encouraging teamwork and sharing. There are even ideas for taking toys outside. They are a great size for putting in handbag if you have to wait for an appointment and we’ve taken some of our favourites to the park before to help explore!

I think the best toys are the ones your children love playing with and are learning without realising! With Schleich you can use the toys as a starting point for learning about animals, habitats, countries and so much more. Playing encourages language and speech development too. Schleich have been around for over 80 years and I know that the quality of their toys will last for years.

You can find out more about Schleich toys on their website, along with a handy Store Locator to find your nearest stockist.

Disclosure – we received a selection of Schleich animals in return for writing this post.
