Have you noticed that there are an increasing amount of special Jubilee limited editions food products? I felt compelled to purchase a few of my favourite brands and must admit I’ve even been keeping the wrappers for the children’s memory boxes! The Jubilee and Olympics are big events in their little lives and even though they are too young to remember, I want them to have some unusual souvenirs to look back on.
There are no official branded jubilee products, and products are not allowed to feature pictures of the Queen. So, as well as the commemorative stamps and special coins we usually buy, they will also have the packaging from some of these lovely products:
Lyle’s Golden Syrup has been turned “Happy and Glorious” for the occasion – perfect for chewy gingerbread!
Nestlé have temporarily rebranded its Kit Kit multipacks as “Brit Kat” to mark the Jubilee. The multipacks have been given a patriotic makeover with the new name and a Union Jack flag design.
I couldn’t resist Mr Kipling French Fancies which have also been given a temporary make over and are now known as Mr Kipling Special Edition Exceedingly Good Great British Fancies. They taste as good as they usually do and come in patriotic red, white or blue in special wrappers too.
The latest Cath Kidston catalogue has also gone all out for the Jubilee, and as well as a new range of products, there are some fun recipes, Union Jack trifle sounds good to me. I’ve seen more and more Jubilee products in the shops as it’s just a few weeks before the official events. About time too as it feels like the Jubilee is overshadowed by the Olympics. As a Londoner I am excited about both, I just hope we have some sunshine!
I would love to attend one of the new Cath Kidston sewing classes advertised in the magazine. For £15 you embellish a Cath Kidston guards hankie with embroidery which sounds fun, especially as I’ve been playing around with embroidery lately.
Have you seen any Jubilee products you want or are you just grateful for an extra day of holiday?!
