I’m surprised to admit I love traveling on steam trains. There’s something about the smell, the atmosphere, the style and comfort of the carriages. Today we took our little one to the 36th Island Steam Show at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, a beautifully restored stretch of the old line which once crossed the island. We were fortunate to have a carriage to ourselves and sat back and enjoyed the view on the hour-long round trip.
Edward seemed to enjoy every second of our day out, from his first ride on the miniature steam train to the vintage traction engines and birds of prey. It was a great day out and lovely to spend some time in the fresh air together as a family.
This post is for Week 25 of The Gallery: One Day in August. In our own little way we are trying to raise awareness of the three mummy bloggers who are currently in Bangladesh with Save The Children. Their aim is to raise awareness of child poverty and encourage Nick Clegg to make child mortality and maternal health a priority at the UN Summit in September.
