baby days out holiday

Through a child's eyes

Having a child makes you see things in a different light. I have a new found appreciation for the world and my life. Today we looked after my 6 year old niece as well as our little one. We let her pick what she wanted to do and went to McDonalds for breakfast followed by a trip to the Isle of Wight Zoo. In comparison to our local zoo this zoo was quite small and before Edward we would have walked round within an hour. However we managed to spend four hours looking at the jaguars, lions, tigers, lemurs and monkeys.

My niece gets bored very easily but she enjoyed looking at the animals and there was an activity room, where she was able to look at insects under a microscope.  Unfortunately she dropped one of the insect boxes and let a grasshopper escape to his freedom but no-one seemed to mind. She was given a plastic tub to hunt for any insects (except bees, wasps or butterflies!) which would then be identified and she managed to find a grasshopper (not the one she let go earlier).

We had a lovely day out, followed by some geocaching and a bracing walk along Culver Down – can you tell we’re enjoying our holiday!?
