baby days out holiday weaning

Weaning (Part II)

We started weaning at 17 weeks according to advice from our Health Visitor. We tried some baby rice and quickly progressed to vegetable and fruit purees. Almost two months later and our little one will happily have three meals a day wherever we are. I’ve learned to stuff the changing bag with jars of food as well as milk, a change of clothes and several bibs.

We’ve been working our way through the Plum goodies we won recently and Edward will happily munch through half a pot of the vegetables followed by half a fruit pot. Today we stopped to feed him and take the world in and watch the estimated 6000 scooterists who have come over for the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally 2010.

The only difficulty we’ve had with weaning is knowing how much to feed Edward (I think he’d happily eat until he popped) and when to progress from purees to mashed foods. My husband is keen to start with baby led weaning as soon as we can. I thought I would try Edward with a bickiepeg and see if he could figure out chewing. He has been chewing my fingers for a while and I was hoping he might progress to something a bit more solid! However he wasn’t too sure about the bickiepeg!
