I’m sure no child can resist collecting pocketfuls of leaves, acorns, conkers and pine cones at this time of year. My 3 year old can’t help herself and our nature table is overflowing with treasures. She really wanted to craft with some of them so we made a pretty Autumnal leaf luminary. DIY Autumn leaves luminary You will need – Mod Podge, selection of leaves and an empty glass jar How to make a DIY Autumn leaves luminary Choose a selection of leaves, smaller ones work best. Did you know that International Talk Like A Pirate Day is celebrated on September 19th? We wanted to join in with the fun so are taking part in a Pirates! Blog Hop with some other crafty bloggers to bring you some pirate activities which the whole family can enjoy. I was going to share our salt dough pirate treasure with you. We’ve made salt dough before and it worked out fine but for some reason our latest batch just wouldn’t come together. It might have had something to go with my 5 year old who said he wanted to mix…

The school holidays have given us lot of lovely time to craft and experiment. We’ve gone through lots of supplies and organised our craft supplies several times in a bid to keep tidy (not easy with two children who love to craft!). Yesterday we finally got the chance to try some products we were sent from Faber Castell – the Faber-Castell Connector Paint Box and the Clic & Go Water Pot. Making Miffy mail! We’ve never experimented with watercolour paint before but I came up with a fun activity to keep my children busy. We made our own Miffy mail…

Did you know that the 13th September is Roald Dahl Day? This Summer we started reading our first chapter book and I chose George’s Marvellous Medicine to read with our 5 year old. He soon got used to fewer pictures and the chapter structure. It’s been a great way to get him to re-tell the story to me each night before we read a chapter and see just how much he’s taking in. It’s lovely to re-read stories I enjoyed when I was younger and I can’t think of a more inspiring author to introduce to my children. Roald Dahl…

Over the last few weeks my son has been making a papier-mâché play scene for his Clangers figures. They live on, and inside, a small moon-like planet which we tried to re-create. He really enjoyed making it, and I’ve enjoyed helping him, so we just had to share it here. We used: Papier-mâché paste Strips of newspaper Empty cardboard boxes, tubes and tubs from the recycling bin Black and white paint Time to make: 2 days DIY Planet Clangers play scene My 5 year old spent some time making a landscape inside a large box lid. He used cardboard tubes…

As Baker Ross ambassadors we were sent a selection of craft kits to review. The latest one was this fun set of Solar System scratch art containing 6 designs including space ships and planets. When I was at school we made our own scratch art but these kits are much easier. Simply scratch the specially coated surface to reveal stunning rainbow colours. Each pre-cut planet shape comes with a scratch tool and coloured ribbon for hanging.
