Solar system scratch art

scratch art solar system display

As Baker Ross ambassadors we were sent a selection of craft kits to review. The latest one was this fun set of Solar System scratch art containing  6 designs including space ships and planets.

When I was at school we made our own scratch art but these kits are much easier. Simply scratch the specially coated surface to reveal stunning rainbow colours. Each pre-cut planet shape comes with a scratch tool and coloured ribbon for hanging.

We decided to make our very own solar system display so painted an old cereal box with black paint. When it had dried we made some holes in it using a centre punch. Then we attached each finished design to our background using split pins.

We made a few extra holes so we could shine a torch through the holes to make stars. The children loved this activity and it’s a great way to discuss space and other planets in the solar system.
