You know by now that I love giving homemade gifts. I never have as much time as I would like but today I want to share with you a gorgeous fabric rosette which can be put together in about 30 minutes and would make a special gift for your mum this Mother’s Day. The full tutorial can be found over on the Cath Kidston blog and I would like to say a big thank you to them for sending me a hamper of crafty products so I could make my own Mother’s Day rosette. Whilst the children were at school…

Earlier this year I made my daughter a lovely Liberty quilt. She keeps it on her bed and I’m so happy she loves it, if she didn’t I would quite happily put it on my bed instead. My 5 year old son keeps asking if I can make him something as “you’re always making stuff for her” as he puts it. Little did he know that I was planning on making something for him too. Since Star Wars Episode VII came out he has turned into the biggest Star Wars fan. His birthday is coming up next month so I…

A couple of year ago I fell in love with a vintage Lloyd Loom nursing chair and bought it. There was the slight matter that I bought it in Devon and we lived in London, but my husband kindly squeezed it into our little car. I bought it for my son’s room and covered it with a cute Cath Kidston print. Roll on a couple of years and it made it’s way into my daughters’ room. I’ve been meaning to change the cover for ages but never got round to it – until this weekend! Yes, I finally made a…

Today I wanted to share the latest subscription box I have tried. I love to sew so I thought I would try a subscription box from My Fabric House. I bought myself the Explore Package for £10 and a little parcel arrived containing 4 pieces of fabric, some bobble trim, ribbon, appliques and buttons. I love the colours of the fabric and had the perfect project in mind for the strawberry fabric. A while ago my Instagram feed was full of the most gorgeous patchwork letters, which were a free pieced alphabet from Moda and their amazing designers. I really…

I have let my monthly round ups slip in recent months. The end of last year was insanely busy. This year is all about making time for me and spending more time on doing the things which make me, and therefore my family, happy. Unless you’ve been living under a cloud you’ll have probably noticed I’ve been sharing lots of pictures of the Liberty quilt I have been stitching this month. Making I started and finished my Liberty rainbow quilt which I am so pleased about. I am terrible at buying fabric and never making anything so I’ve started the…

From buttons on clothes to upholstery buttons, there are many ways in which buttons can be matched to fabrics, some more creative than others. The colour, shape and size of your buttons can all contribute to the overall look of the item. As far as clothes are concerned, the colour of the buttons is usually matched to the colour of the fabric. Even so, a button is a brilliant way to individualise your clothes. A rule of thumb is that for female clothing, small and dainty buttons are usually the best match, while for tailored clothing, a clean and shiny…

Time for my weekly Monday Happy Things post. My son has joined our local Beavers group and went along to his first session. He really enjoyed himself so I’m hoping he’ll stick with it. This week he also started Maths Club and Football Club. Both of these are only for a term but he was happy with the first week. I wasn’t so happy with the additional trips to school so I’m grateful we live close to school. I’ve been decluttering magazines, part of a wider tidy up of the house which seems to happen every January. I was amazed…

It’s been a beautifully quiet week. The children only went back to nursery and school on Tuesday and we all enjoyed a short week. After school clubs start this week so I’m glad we had a slow start to the year. My 5 year old has discovered hot chocolate so we treated ourselves to a loaded hot chocolate in a new cafe on the high street. I’ve spent the evenings working on my Liberty rainbow quilt. I’ve finished the top and backed it with a gorgeous Liberty print. This week I’ll be hand stitching the binding and hope to…

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to my weekly Monday Happy Things post where I record the five things which have made me happy in the past week. I’ve really enjoyed the Christmas holidays. I’ve had plenty of time to indulge my hobbies, written some long overdue blog posts and loved not receiving too many emails. One of my favourite Christmas presents was The Year in Stitches Calendar Kit from The Draper’s Daughter. I enjoyed stitching the first month and will look forward to making each one every month. On the way back from spending Christmas at my mum’s…
