I can’t believe we’ve been in our present home for a good couple of years now. I think the start of a New Year has made us finally sit down and talk about home improvements. This year we will be concentrating on the downstairs and I can’t wait to choose some colour schemes and get painting. I’m sure I can’t be the only person who found selling and buying property more stressful than getting married or having babies! Unfortunately it’s always going to be expensive and time consuming. As well as buying property there are all the associated fees including…

We’re a bit spoilt for shops selling furniture where we live. Our new house is bigger than the old one so when we moved we needed more furniture. Sitting in my lounge and writing this, almost everything I can see is new, and we definitely didn’t budget for it all in our moving costs! We shopped around, and looked online too, and found everything we needed. It should out last us too, unless wooden furniture goes horribly out of fashion! Anyway, as all the large pieces of furniture have been bought and paid for, I’ve started to buy smaller pieces….…

As you know we moved house 8 months ago and we’re in the process of decorating every room. We’ve already finished the little man’s room, next up will be his sister’s. It was already pink so just needs a freshen up and some vintage pieces of furniture need stripping and repainting. We were offered some decorative wall stickers from Bloobry to try and looking through their designs I knew right away which ones would be perfect for Little Sis. She just loves pink so how could I resist a sheet of 52 butterflies, in seven different sizes, ranging from 2cm…

I’m actually quite pleased to say that the Day Zero challenge I started on the 19 September 2010 has finished. It seems a long time ago but my 1001 days are over. I haven’t quite completed my list but it’s 87% finished, which is good enough. Time to start something new for me. This year has been busy with the house move and adjusting to our new life in suburbia. At the beginning of the year I said I wanted to slow down on the blogging front. It’s taken over my life and not in a good way. I appreciate…

I love a challenge and was excited to be asked to take part in the latest one from MoneySupermarket.com, to improve a room of my choice within my home. As you all know we only moved into our new house last month so it was pretty difficult to decide which room to improve. I settled on Little Sis’s room as she moved into her own bedroom when we moved house. Considering she had shared with us from the day she was born, the transition to her own room went completely unnoticed by her. I miss her little sniffles and snores…

As part of my role as a Dunelm Mill blogger I’m occasionally asked to review some of their lovely products for the home. They recently contacted me about reviewing one of their latest products, the Click ānā Clean cleaning system. The Click ānā Clean is a revolutionary new cleaning system where you select your handle which you can mix and match with a cleaning head depending on your cleaning needs. Not only is it the time of year to give your house a Spring clean but, as you know, we’ve recently moved house so our house needs a complete clean.…

In 1983 I was 6. Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister, the pound coin replaced the pound note and a pint of milk cost just 21p. Luckily for me I’m a hoarder so it didn’t take me long to root out my old school photos from 1983 as well as my exercise books and diaries. Thank goodness I’ve changed in the last 30 years! I found this hilarious drawing I did when I was 6. Look at my Princess Leia hair! I think that’s a recorder next to my mouth, not sure what else it could be…. I can happily say…

It’s no surprise that I’m spending most of my time thinking about our new house. We are waiting (impatiently!) to hear that we’ve exchanged contracts and fingers crossed that will happen any day. This time round we’re paying a removal firm to pack and move us. With two small people it’s pretty impossible to concentrate on packing more than the essentials we’ll need for the first few days. At the moment I’m worrying about a cover set, stair gates and black out blinds but I’m sure they will be replaced by something else tomorrow. Our new house is bigger and…

One of the things I am most excited about in moving house is the fact both children will have equal-sized bedrooms. That might sound silly but the majority of the houses we saw had two decent sized bedrooms and a box room. Fortunately our new house is quite modern so the rooms are all a good size. We’ve been tripping over ourselves and the children’s toys so I’m looking forward to decorating the children’s rooms and buying new furniture including children’s beds. I have a very handy Cath Kidston planner and I’ve been using it to keep pictures from magazines…
