    Hoop Quilts for Beginners {book review}

    I love reading craft books, I find them so inspiring especially when I want to try something new. I was recently gifted a copy of Hoop Quilts for Beginners by Anne Marie Chany via NetGalley. I loved the cover of the book – I know you should never judge a book by its cover – which was bright and colourful! Hoop Quilts for Beginners by Anne Marie Chany Hoop Quilts for Beginners: 15 Designs Using Easy Patchwork and Embroidery is by Anne Marie Chany. Love Embroidery pennant stitch kit

    Recently I’ve felt like I’ve lost my crafting mojo. The Easter holidays were busy and we had some lovely days out but the kids stayed up late which left no time for crafting. I have a few projects on the go but none were really grabbing my attention. So I was happy when the May issue of Love Embroidery magazine arrived because it included a lovely free embroidery project. Love Embroidery pennant stitch kit I embroider a lot of hoops so I liked the thought of stitching something a little different. The stitch kit was designed by Jessie Doe and …

    Bridgerton inspired embroidery hoop

    I love all things Bridgerton. I admit that the first episode of Season 1 was a slow burner for me, but I quickly fell in love with the characters, costumes and sets. Since Season 1 finished I read all the Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn and I’m excited to see what happens in Season 2. When I saw a Bridgerton inspired embroidery hoop class run by Hobbycraft I signed myself up. I find in person classes really hard to get to now I work full-time, so an online evening class sounded good to me. Bridgerton inspired embroidery hoop A few…

    Blackbird’s nest appliqué project

    I’m sure I’m not the only person with a craft stash. This year I want to work my way through some of it. I do love a seasonal project and with Spring in the air I turned to one of the projects I didn’t make from a previous Craftpod subscription box. The box contained two projects. I made the felt pin cushion, but for some reason never started the Blackbird’s nest appliqué project. I have never done much appliqué, so I think this was one I put aside for when I had more time. Blackbird’s nest appliqué project Thankfully I…

    Starry night owl embroidery {Winter Craftpod}

    I look forward to receiving happy mail – craft subscription boxes, craft books and magazines are all welcome to land on my door mat. I’ve subscribed to the Craftpod subscription box for a while. I love the mix of embroidery projects and seasonal projects. The Winter Craftpod box arrived just before Christmas. Starry night owl embroidery The Winter Craftpod contained three projects – the Starry Night Owl embroidery, Owl scissors case and a paper garland. The first project I made was the felt Owl scissors case. I always enjoy working with felt and this was a sweet project to stitch.…

    Floral Christmas tree embroidery

    I’ve been stocking up on craft kits to make over the winter months. I haven’t had a lot of time for stitching but I couldn’t resist buying the Barmy Fox and Copper Blush collaboration embroidered tree overlaid with a metal tree shape. It sounded odd, but it totally worked. Floral Christmas tree embroidery You can buy each of the five designs on their own or a mega kit of all five designs. I opted for the floral Christmas tree embroidery, although I could easily have stitched any of the designs. The kit came with 2 pieces of fabric (one to…

    Embroidered felt Desert Moth banner

    It feels like it’s been a while since I shared one of my sewing projects. Over the weekend I finished a gorgeous embroidered moth banner which is just perfect now that Autumn has set in. Embroidered felt Desert Moth banner I bought the pattern from an Etsy shop (Sewn By Sandeep) and the felt banner features a gorgeous Desert Moth. First I needed to gather my supplies – DMC embroidery threads, a piece of russet felt, and Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy water soluble stabiliser. I wanted to try printing the pattern onto the Sulky water soluble stabiliser. I really dislike transferring…

    Wild Rose and Strawberries {Summer Craftpod}

    I love the few subscription boxes I sign up for regularly. They are always something I look forward to and the contents usually keep me busy for weeks. The Summer Craftpod sub box arrived right at the beginning of Summer and I have finally finished it. Wild Rose and Strawberries {Summer Craftpod} The Summer 2021 Craftpod contained two summer themed projects to enjoy. One was the Wild Rose and Strawberry Embroidery, with the pattern printed onto 100% cotton fabric, with 7 DMC embroidery threads, in a 5 inch hoop. I really loved the way the embroidery threads complimented each other.…

    How to use stick on embroidery transfers

    I love all things embroidery and noticed there’s a real trend for embroidering on clothes, trainers, bags and hats. How do you transfer an embroidery design on to all these different surfaces? I’ve used vintage tranfers, tried transferring designs using natural light from a window and it’s hard. I also recently received a light box which is great for light fabrics, but totally doesn’t work on darker fabrics. So when I came across embroidery transfers it was a real game changer. How to use stick on embroidery transfers If you haven’t come across embroidery transfers before then let me tell…
