Did you watch the Stick Man adaptation screened on Christmas Day? I must admit we made sure we were all sitting down to watch as we have enjoyed previous adaptations of Julia Donaldson books so much. I’m pleased to say it is out tomorrow on DVD and we were sent a copy to enjoy at home.
First published in 2008, Stick Man was written by beloved children’s author Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Stick Man lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three. One day Stick Man unintentionally ends up on an epic voyage across the country. His marathon adventure takes him across the seasons as he’s taken further away from home, encountering many obstacles on the way including an overzealous dog; being thrown into a river; escaping from a swan’s nest and even ending up on top of a fire. He’s not an ordinary stick, he’s Stick Man, he’s Stick Man, he’s Stick Man, you see. Will the Stick Man ever get back to his family tree?
Now you can join Stick Man on his often perilous journey to make it back to his woodland home in this heart-warming adventure for all the family. This magical animated special is voiced by a beloved cast of British acting talent including; Martin Freeman as Stick Man; Hugh Bonneville as Santa; Jennifer Saunders as the narrator; with additional voice talent from Russell Tovey; Rob Brydon and Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins.
A must-own for all the family, Stick Man arrives on DVD on 1st February 2016 courtesy of Entertainment One. DVD special features include: Stick Man Artwork Gallery, Live Performance by author Julia Donaldson & illustrator Axel Scheffler and Behind The Scenes Stick Man Documentary.
As well as a copy of the Stick Man DVD we also received some lovely Stick Man puzzles from Ravensburger, the special Stick Man gift edition (see our review here) and a super cute Stick Man keyring. If you love Stick Man as much as we do then why not print out this Stick Man activity sheet for later!
Don’t forget, Stick Man arrives on DVD on 1st February 2016 courtesy of Entertainment One.
