Monday Happy Things – Week 71

I’m getting a bit bored of writing about another busy week but it’s true. I can’t believe it’s Monday again and a new month to boot. We have lots of exciting things planned for February so it should be a great month. Anyway, time for my weekly roundup – Monday Happy Things.

This week I’ve been using the new Orla Kiely handbag I bought in Covent Garden last weekend. I fell in love with my Little Owl Quilted Reversible Tote as it features my favourite stem pattern in a lovely quilted design. I chose the red colour to add a splash of colour to the miserable winter days. It’s a deep bag (which is how I justified yet another Orla handbag) and it was in the Sale too, so I saved some pennies.

I took part in the 8th Very Berry Textile Artist Trading Card Swap. The theme was Winter Warmers and I enjoyed thinking what to make. I tried an applique of a coffee cup for my partner and received a beautiful card in return. The ATC card measures 2.5 x 3.5 inches so it’s quite fun trying to stitch something so small.

After the success of my Tunnocks Caramel Wafer cupcakes and Tunnocks Tea Cake cupcakes I tried baking with the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer again and made a rather yummy batch of Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Rocky Road. Recipe to follow soon.

Yesterday I went to see the Liberty in Fashion exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum and took my 5 year old along with me. I adore Liberty fabric and it’s a wonderful exhibition with a great variety of Liberty fashions through the ages. I’ll try to write about it in more detail this week.

Are you a fan of Duck Tape? I am and couldn’t resist picking up a roll of the new Star Wars Duck Tape at the weekend. My 5 year old has already made a few things with it and I’ve had to persuade him to save some for more than one project.

I like the bag, I like the subtle look of the Orla leaves.
I’ve just eaten a Tunnocks wafer! I’ll look out for your Rocky Road recipe!!

Star Wars duct tape, I don’t know why but I need some of this in my life. I totally can’t believe that it’s another week, nevermind Feb! Have a great week! x
