Little Sis was offered a new-to-her type of puzzle to review – the Sofia the First 12-piece Cube Puzzle, featuring six designs of Sofia with animals, fairies and friends. It’s simple and colourful and comes stored in a plastic carry case, making it perfect for travel. The cubes are also easily washable.
Have you ever watched an episode of Sofia the First (a computer animated television series on Disney Junior)? It follows the adventures of Sofia, an 8-year old young girl who becomes a princess overnight after her mother marries the king. Sofia tries her best to adapt to her new life being a princess and has her stepbrother and sister James and Amber to help her along with the headmistresses of the Royal Prep Academy Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, the Three Good Fairies from Sleeping Beauty. Little Sis loves this series so I knew she would like any toy related to it.
It’s not an understatement to say my children adore jigsaw puzzles. They always have and have amassed quite a collection thanks to our local charity shops! It’s something they like to do on their own or with each other. So far the puzzles they have enjoyed have been 2D with colourful pictures, made from chunky cardboard with the completed image on the front of the box if they need a little help.
The Sofia the First puzzle is a little different but they have both enjoyed playing with it. My 4 year can make each puzzle easily but my 3 year old takes a little longer. Each puzzle has a different colour around the outside which means she can pick a colour but struggles to find the two pieces which fit in the middle which don’t have coloured edges.
Overall this is a lovely set and a nice addition to their puzzles. Everyone is aware of the benefits of puzzles for kids. It aids their cognitive abilities, such as fine motor skills, problem-solving skills and spatial awareness. The pictures are colourful and appealing and the 6 puzzles have been keeping them both busy. It comes in a handy plastic carry case which is the perfect size for taking with us during holidays.
The Sofia cube puzzle is available from Ocado for RRP £7.99 and is suitable for children aged three and above. We were sent this toy for the purposes of review.
