Shamrock sun catcher craft

It’s been a while since we made any sun catchers to brighten the room, but with St Patrick’s Day coming up next month, it seemed the perfect time. We have Irish ancestry but I admit we don’t go all out to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

The shamrock is symbol of Christianity in Ireland and associated with St Patrick. Our paper plate shamrock sun catcher is a simple craft activity for children.

I traced a shamrock onto a paper plate and cut it out.

My 4 year old cut a sheet of green cellophane into small pieces.

I covered one side of the paper plate with contact paper, then she added the green cellophane.

When she had finished I covered the back with more contact paper to seal the sun catcher. She was happy with her simple shamrock sun catcher craft and so was I!

  1. Suncatchers are such a lovely way to brighten up a window and a Shamrock inspired one is perfect for St Patrick’s Day. If you have Irish heritage then this is all the excuse you need to throw a Paddy’s Day party this year! Thanks for joining in with our hop.

  2. We made suncatchers last year on card but I much prefer them on paper plates – yours look fab. Will have to try this 🙂
