Mini Bakers Club review – children’s baking subscription box

Mini Bakers Club

There’s nothing better than a homemade treat. Both my children enjoy baking but I admit we don’t do it nearly often enough. We love crafting after school and were overjoyed to be sent a Mini Bakers Box from BKD to try at home. My children love subscription boxes and we’ve tried a lot of crafty ones. The Mini Bakers Box contains a baking and craft treat in a box every month, delivered to your door.

It’s not hard to see why subscription boxes are so successful. They allow you to try so many different things, often providing most of the equipment needed. I haven’t seen many baking subscription boxes for kids before and this is a lovely one. The first thing you notice is that the actual box is personalised with names which is a really nice touch. We opened it up to see what it contained. Each box is themed and we received the Buzzy Bees box.

Inside was an instruction booklet, ingredients to make Beehive cookies, and items to make a Buzzy Bee headband. We found the instructions were pitched perfectly, and could be easily read by the 6 and 8 year old. First we made the cookie dough and had fun baking our cookies. They had a really lovely yellow colour and there was enough for them both to make 4 cookies!

We saved the cookies to decorate after school. I find these kinds of activities are perfect for helping the children wind down after school, and they loved making their own after school treats.

They layered the biscuits to make a beehive, then decorated them with icing and yellow sprinkles. They were finished off with a chocolate button door and a jelly bean bee. The kids loved the bee detail and had fun putting everything together.

When the cookies had been eaten it was time to make the Bumble Bee headband. This was a simple craft activity and only one included, so my daughter decided to make it. I think most parents could put their hands on the supplies to make more.

We finished off by reading the booklet. There was a section about how bees make honey and a Buzzy Bees matching activity which my 6 year old declared was too easy for her, but she did it anyway.

I’d have no hesitation in subscribing to the Mini Bakers Club. This is definitely one of our favourite children’s baking subscription boxes and would make a great gift. They also run for workshops in London, and sell baking kits too.

My kids would love this! They enjoy making cakes, biscuits, you name it. We really should make more time to do this and I can see how having a subscription would help to do that.

Looks like someone is really chuffed with her cakes! This subscription box sounds really good fun – especially for the summer holiday as an activity for a day.
