It’s fair to say that things have been a little busy in our home recently. March is a crazy month with my son’s birthday, my birthday and Easter. Our house is currently sporting birthday cards, Easter eggs are hidden everywhere, and we’re in the midst of throwing my son a Minecraft party at home this weekend. I’m feeling a little stressed, especially as my daughter has been off school sick so I haven’t had as much time as I need to get organised.
Stress can trigger acid reflux, and therefore heartburn and indigestion. This is something I also suffered with when I was pregnant and it’s really unpleasant. Many of my family suffer with heartburn, which is often caused by acid reflux; the name given to the reverse passage of gastric. This can also be caused by eating spicy or citric foods, eating late or at irregular times, as well as drinking too much caffeine or alcohol. Rennie is a range of fast-acting, effective treatments that help relieve heartburn and indigestion so you can get on with your life. It’s a tried and trusted remedy for more than 85 years.
We all deal with stress in different ways. In an ideal world we would have enough “me” time to relax, but I know that’s not always possible. With the 2 week Easter holidays approaching you might think that would be relaxing family time. Not in our household! We have family visiting, children to keep occupied and memories to make.
Relax with Rennie
Rennie challenged me to try out some relaxation techniques from around the world. I love this Relax with Rennie infographic which shows how people relax. Here in the United Kingdom we love to spend time outside. I didn’t think us Brits were known as outdoorsy people, I would much rather relax with a Netflix binge and a glass of wine.
Did you know that the Malay just love to relax with a fishy foot massage? I’ve only ever seen a fishy foot massage on YouTube and I can’t see me trying that anytime soon. I’m really ticklish so I don’t think it would help me to relax.
Now the French enjoy a glass of wine, which is much more up my street. I’m no wine connoisseur but I do love a glass of chilled white wine after a hectic week.
I love how different cultures relax in different ways. People in the USA relax by doing nothing but the people of Japan can’t resist a hot spring bath. There are so many ideas from around the globe that I wouldn’t mind taking a bit from each one and coming up with my own perfect day. How about a long walk with the family (apparently what us Brits do to relax), followed by a hot bath (inspired by Japan), finished off with a chilled glass of wine (thanks for the tip France!).
I’d love to hear how you relax. Are you a typical Brit or have you ever tried any of the ideas from around the world?
This post is in conjunction with Rennie but all thoughts are my own

March 23, 2018 at 9:18 amAcid reflux is just horrible. I have had a few experiences, mostly waking up at night. I’ve found that eating less or earlier at dinner helps!

March 23, 2018 at 9:38 amMy relaxation is a long walk in the countryside, with my camera, a flask of coffee, and my pooch. I always come back feeling so much better about myself.

March 24, 2018 at 2:18 pmI’ve been taking Rennie for years. I should probably learn to relax more! Vino tends to be my relaxant!

March 24, 2018 at 5:41 pmI quite like the sound of hoe the people of Japan relax, in a hot spring bath! That is my ideal way to chill out

March 27, 2018 at 11:27 amThe Japanese way to relax sounds more like something I’d prefer, much more than any fish near my feet! It is so important to find time to relax, all too often out lives are crammed with so much to do. I used to practice Yoga, the benefits of which are almost magical. I should get back in to it really. For now, relaxing is usually about turning the TV off, and reading a book with a cup of tea.
