I love Easter and it’s a holiday I look forward to for weeks. Sadly, due to lockdown we will not be visiting family and friends, but we will still be celebrating at home. Spring is a lovely time of year and we are all enjoying the longer, warmer days. The children have re-discovered the garden and we are watching the flowers come back to life.

We’ve shared some really fun Easter crafts for kids with you and couldn’t resist telling you about our recycled cardboard chick craft for kids. Our recycling bin is always full, and some corrugated cardboard inspired this fun cardboard chick craft for kids. So raid your recycling, gather your craft supplies, and have fun with this Easter chick craft.

Recycled cardboard chick craft supplies:
Cardboard
Corrugated cardboard or other Textured Material
White Glue
Scissors
Oil Pastels
Black permanent pen

How to make recycled cardboard chicks

First download and print out the free chick template.

Cut the free template out and trace onto cardboard or whatever textured materials you are using.

Colour the cardboard pieces with oil pastels, carefully blending the oil pastels with your fingertips. We used yellows for the main body, tummy and wings, and orange for the beak and feet. We chose oil pastels as my son loves using them but you could also use paint or any other medium you have.

Carefully glue the pieces together as shown in my image. Add eyes using black permanent marker.

We cut out two sets of templates – one to create a boy chick, complete with bow tie.

And we created a girl chick too, with an adorable flower in her hair.

These would make adorable Easter decorations. You could add them to a handmade Easter card or place them in a basket of chocolate eggs to make a table decoration.
