Planning a Spooktacular Halloween

Posted on October 18, 2014March 1, 2019 by jenny

Yesterday we had a practice run on our Halloween cupcakes. The children are excited as we’ve decided to bake our contribution to the school Halloween party. We made chocolate cupcakes with little graveyard cupcake toppers from Felt-o-Ween. They should be good enough for our own Halloween party the following week too.

So far I’ve resisted putting up our Halloween decorations. I’m not sure when’s the right time. We have some costumes, Big Brother is a skeleton (in a comfy onesie) and Little Sis will be a witch. My 4 year old is itching to fill a bowl with spooky sweets in case the Trick or Treaters come knocking on the door 2 weeks early.

There are some brilliant decoration ideas out there. My Pinterest boards for planning a Spooktacular Halloween are surprisingly empty which is why I was happy to receive an email about some spook-tastic Halloween party ideas from Snapfish – the photo ordering site.

They have some fun activities to make Halloween suitably ghoulish… which include:

  • Create petrifying personalized invitations for those who dare to attend your spooktactular party
  • Set the stage for a frightful fun party with these orange and black printable party banner, posters and signs.
  • There are plenty of craft activities too – don’t forget the lanterns, hanging decorations and window witches too!
  • Stop any moans and groans with these Haunted House or pumpkin colouring-in templates
  • They even have Halloween Pumpkin Carving Templates which I’ve shared with my husband, we’ve already been having discussions about this years’ pumpkin!

Snapfish kindly sent me a code so we could make our own boo-tiful Halloween photobook so after the parties we can remember all the magic memories. My children adore photo books so this will be a lovely surprise for them. The pages have fun themed graphics and I can’t wait to fill the pages with our snaps of ghoulish face paint, trick or treating, crafts, bakes and more.

These are only a few ideas on how you can make Halloween the ultimate scarefest and get the whole family involved in the tricks and treats, but there are plenty more that can be done.
