Spring is in the air and we’ve packed away our Easter decorations for another year. Thankfully there are plenty of Spring crafts on our to do list. We recently received our latest Bostik Bloggers box which was stuffed full of crafty pieces to make a fun Spring bird-themed craft. We raided our own craft stash to make a really fun paper plate bird craft for kids.
Paper plate bird craft for kids
We used:
paper plates
brown and red tissue paper
feathers
googly eyes
Bostik Glu Dots
How to make paper plate birds
The basic idea is to fold your paper plate in half to make a bird shape. Then you can decorate it any way you like. My 5 year old made a few different birds and I think her favourite was made with tissue paper to make a robin.
She’s really good at using Bostik Glu Dots and can easily peel them off and apply them to any surface.
To make a robin we drew a pencil line on the paper plate. She filled the bottom with red tissue paper to make a red breast. She covered the rest of the paper plate with brown tissue paper, all staying in place with Glu Dots.
When she had finished she added a googly eye to finish off her bird.
She made another bird using feathers, we’re not really sure what type of bird this one is!

April 25, 2017 at 3:55 pmHi Jenny,
Thanks for a great idea. It’s one of those rainy day ones when the kids are getting restless after being cooped up for too long. Am guessing you can do this for lots of different animals too depending on the materials you have to hand, some paint and pipe cleaners will make some nice ladybirds for example.
Great post, great idea and great pics too! Thanks
