This post follows on from a previous post reviewing two ebooks: How to Sew – Basics and How to Sew – Applique. This review is of two further ebooks: How to Sew – Patchwork and How to Sew – Machine Sewing. Whilst on holiday on the Isle of Wight I really wanted to make and drop another toy for The Toy Society. So that’s exactly what I did using this pattern. We sneaked out after the baby was in bed (don’t worry, my mum was at home!) and dropped the felt scottie dog by the children’s park by the Canoe Lake, Ryde. It was pretty easy to spot from the children’s park so I hope it gets found soon.

Having a child makes you see things in a different light. I have a new found appreciation for the world and my life. Today we looked after my 6 year old niece as well as our little one. We let her pick what she wanted to do and went to McDonalds for breakfast followed by a trip to the Isle of Wight Zoo. In comparison to our local zoo this zoo was quite small and before Edward we would have walked round within an hour. However we managed to spend four hours looking at the jaguars, lions, tigers, lemurs and…

I’m surprised to admit I love traveling on steam trains. There’s something about the smell, the atmosphere, the style and comfort of the carriages. Today we took our little one to the 36th Island Steam Show at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, a beautifully restored stretch of the old line which once crossed the island. We were fortunate to have a carriage to ourselves and sat back and enjoyed the view on the hour-long round trip. Edward seemed to enjoy every second of our day out, from his first ride on the miniature steam train to the vintage traction…

We started weaning at 17 weeks according to advice from our Health Visitor. We tried some baby rice and quickly progressed to vegetable and fruit purees. Almost two months later and our little one will happily have three meals a day wherever we are. I’ve learned to stuff the changing bag with jars of food as well as milk, a change of clothes and several bibs. We’ve been working our way through the Plum goodies we won recently and Edward will happily munch through half a pot of the vegetables followed by half a fruit pot. Today we stopped to…

This Sunday three very brave ladies (and mummy bloggers!) will by flying to Bangladesh to raise awareness of the work that Save the Children do with women and children. Every year almost 9 million children under the age of five die. Save the Children are working to raise awareness of the situation and what we can all do to make a difference. You can follow their incredible journey on twitter, the Save the Children website, or follow the mummy bloggers – Josie, Sian and Eva. Perhaps more importantly you can add your name to the collection of signatures putting pressure…

I was recently given the opportunity to review four ebooks on a variety of sewing topics: How to Sew – Basics, How to Sew – Applique, How to Sew – Patchwork and How to Sew – Machine Sewing. Today I will be reviewing the first two ebooks. I’m a complete novice at sewing but I really enjoy having something creative to do after putting my little boy to bed. I was encouraged by my grandmother and mother who could both knit, crochet, sew and embroider anything. How to Sew – Basics The How to Sew – Basics is a handy…

When I was pregnant and read current government advice that babies should sleep in your room until they are at least six months old I didn’t think we would manage this. We thought the baby would be too noisy or would wake too frequently and we would put the baby in it’s own room fairly quickly. At home he sleeps in his cot from 7 until 11 when we wake him up for a dream feed and put him to bed in his moses basket in our room. This has been our routine since he was 2 weeks old and…

This weeks theme for The Gallery is a Photo I’m Proud of. Since my little one was born I’ve tried to take a photograph of him every day and posted it here. I found that the quality of my photographs wasn’t very good so recently upgraded to a Lumix G Micro System. The photographs are crystal clear and it’s taken me a while to choose just one photo of my gorgeous little man. Edward sucking his fingers (we’re still waiting for him to cut his first tooth!). This post is for Week 24 of The Gallery: A Photo I’m Proud…
