I’m sure I can’t be the only woman with a husband who is difficult to buy presents for. Birthday or Christmas, it really doesn’t matter. He’s a complete geek and difficult to buy for. There’s lots of inspiration for gifts in this handy Christmas Gift Guide and I recently found something which I thought he would love (and Edward too!) – the lightspeed ihelicopter from paramountzone. The lightspeed ihelicopter is controlled via your phone (iPhone, iPod, iPad and some Android phones). Simply download the free App (Copter Controller) from the apple App store or Android market, plug the (included) IR…

I can’t resist anything gingerbread but I’ve never had a gingerbread advent calendar so thought I would have a look for one. With a little help from Pinterest my top 5 favourite gingerbread house advent calendars are: Source: johnlewis.com via Jenny on Pinterest Source: amazon.co.uk via Jenny on Pinterest Source: blog.paper-source.com via Jenny on Pinterest Source: gingerbreadsnowflakes.com via Jenny on Pinterest Source: sewandso.co.uk via Jenny on Pinterest I’ve treated myself to the first one – how could I resist 24 iced gingerbread biscuits to get me through advent (and a new baby!). I shall be keeping a…

Edward has now had five sessions at nursery. The first two were reduced hours to help him settle in but he’s now completed three full sessions. Our main goal was to help him socialise with other children. I didn’t realise how hard this would be and despite lots of activities he seemed to pick up bad habits rather than good from other children. Without making it sound like I wanted to let someone else take responsibility for his behaviour we decided it would be of major benefit if he had regular time with other children in a secure environment. I’m…

Earth Friendly Baby produce eco-friendly baby treats. We love using their products and Edward enjoys lovely bath times with a little help from their pure and natural range of everyday toiletries. We recently tried the Earth Friendly Baby Natural Unscented Massage Oil. It’s perfect for mums to be and babies and is crammed with nourishing ingredients including light and mild Sunflower Oil, healing Sesame Oil, Shea Butter and added Vitamin E. It is fragrance free and gentle enough to be used on stretching and expanding tummies or new babies from the age of just 7 days. Giveaway! I have three…

As a first time mum not too many months ago I meticulously recorded everything Edward did on paper and through his online blog. I also used the electronic baby journal WellStart but to be honest didn’t find it very easy to use and quickly abandoned it. So I was really happy to hear about Gurgle Baby Milestones which is a major development of WellStart, still very recognisable but with a lot of great improvements. With the imminent arrival of Second Baby I was delighted to be asked to try it out. The software is simple to install and allows you…

I was so excited to see that the Biscuiteers have produced a range of gingerbread biscuits called jolly gingers. The biscuiteers bake and hand decorate biscuits (and more recently chocolates, cakes and sweeties). Undoubtedly beautiful and each one a work of art they are quite expensive so I was really happy to find an on-line code giving 50% off each biscuit. I chose 3 biscuits: santa jolly ginger for me, gingerman for Edward, and iginger for my husband who’s a huge Apple fan. Each ginger came in it’s own box, suspended through the art of cardboard so it arrived intact.…

‘Tis finally the season to be jolly which means I’ve been snapping up everything gingerbread to show you over the next couple of weeks. My energy levels are disappearing but I have a few swaps to honour before the arrival of Second Baby. This week I’ve been making a new type of gingerbread house for one swap partner, very simple with a red and white bead hanger and a metal heart on the door. I’m hoping my crafting mojo will return soon. I’ve been struggling to pull out my sewing basket after Edward has gone to bed yet there are…

This week it’s all about the one that got away. I was browsing the charity shops in Muswell Hill when I spotted a lovely set of specimen drawers in the Oxfam shop. It was a small wooden unit with three full length drawers and four drawers of different sizes. It was beautiful and I started to think of all the things I could put in it and how I would clean it up. As I was hungry I decided to have lunch before buying the drawers which were priced very reasonably but looked bulky and heavy. I had a lovely…

I never thought that we’d be affected by half-term with a pre-schooler but all our normal activities stop! This time we tried to be a bit more ingenious and made the most of activities at our local library, autumnal walks in the park as well as a trip to the Tower of London. Half-term fun at the Tower of London We’ve been meaning to go to the Tower of London for ages. It’s one of those iconic places which would be in my fantasy London Guide which represent London, along with Big Ben, black cabs and red telephone boxes. Despite…
