The toddler is almost two and a half and shows no interest in potty training at all. We have a potty, he’s seen it and might have sat on it once but soon filled it with toys and I put it away again. We’ve bought pull-up pants but he really didn’t like them so they’re sitting under the stairs, waiting until he’s ready. His nursery have said they will start sticking him on the toilet after every nappy change from September so I am keen to introduce him to the concept so he’s not taken by surprise. We were out…

We’ve all been getting a bit fed up with the Lego/train play cycle so today we tried something different – small world play! In case you haven’t heard of it before small world play enables children to learn through the manipulation of small equipment. In my previous life (before children) I trained as an archaeologist so thought it would be fun to teach the toddler about what that involved. Sounds clever but it actually involved a box of sand with small dinosaurs hidden in it. When I showed the toddler he was intrigued but soon dug in with a little…

As a self-confessed pram addict I feel the need to keep up to date with the latest launches which is why yesterday I found myself at the UK launch of the Orbit Baby G2 buggy. Afternoon tea in the beautiful Loft Lounge at The Hospital Club, Covent Garden, was an added bonus. The Orbit Baby G2 is a pioneering buggy which launched in the UK for the very first time yesterday. It is the product of a two-year process of user research, and has already experienced tremendous success in the United States, with an A-list celebrity following (Natalie Portman, Maggie…

When the toddler was little I went through every range of cups until I found one he was happy with. I didn’t realise until we were sent some Anyway Up cups to review that it had been the very fabulous Anyway Up Cow cup. The toddler adored it until we progressed to a grown up cup and had to put it away. The people behind Anyway Up cups have just relaunched their range and I was happy to review a cup with Little Sis who really needed to be weaned off a bottle. It was a bit harder than I…

I wanted to make a simple comforter for Little Sis and it has taken me a couple of weeks but I’ve done it! It took me a while to increase my fabric stash as when I went to pick out some rainbow fabrics I realised I had lots of prints and patterns but hardly any block colours, not that I ever need an excuse to buy more fabrics! Rainbow hexies for a small person I love my English Paper Piecing and stuck to the traditional method – cutting out paper templates and making up hexies in the colours of the…

Luckily for us we get to spend a lot of time on the Isle of Wight. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a small island off the South Coast of England. It’s where I grew up and where my family live. It’s also the best stomping ground for charity shops, especially Ryde, where my mum and sister happen to live. I always make sure to spare an hour or so to walk down the beautiful High Street into Union Street and down to the beach and there are plenty of charity and antique shops to keep you busy along…

Have you and your family been inspired by the Olympics? My children are too young to understand what’s going on but we’ve been busy visiting Olympic-themed exhibitions, seen the Torch Relay pass by the end of our road, been to the Olympic Park and cheered on the synchronised swimming at the Aquatics Centre, baked Olympic cupcakes and even visited a gold post box. I hope by blogging and scrapbooking these things the children will have memories that will inspire them as they grow up. A fascinating new range of multi-media textbooks for iPad from The Amazing People Club aims to…
