Christmas handmade reviews

The C word

I’m going to be brave and use the C word. There’s something about September that just gets me thinking about Christmas. I’ve written my Christmas wishlist (iPad mini please), been buying stocking fillers and joined in some swaps for Christmas crafting.

Christmas doesn’t have to be all about the money. We’ll be keeping it simple. I’ve decided to  buy and wrap 24 books to put under the Christmas tree. I love the idea of reading Christmas stories with the children during Advent so have been buying second hand festive books whenever I see them.

We’ll also been starting early on our Christmas decorations. Out go the gaudy plastic shop-bought decorations to be replaced with our own handmade ones. I remember our handmade decorations were religiously put up every year on our tree until me and my sister threw them away in embarrassment. I can’t wait to help the toddler make some snowmen out of yoghurt pots and Father Christmas from toilet rolls!

I also want to make our own cards as we have done for the last couple of years. The only problem will be choosing what comedy outfits to put the children in. The toddler just isn’t into dressing up but the baby won’t get a choice. I think she’ll look great as a Christmas pud so I may turn to online shopping for our very special photo shoot!

I can’t be the only one wanting to get ahead. Anyone else want to admit it too?

Guilty! I have been looking up recipes for salt dough and I bought some metallic paint this weekend ready to make some home made decorations. I love the idea of 24 books for advent, can’t wait to see what you have picked.
