How to make a quilt gallery wall

I think I’ve mentioned that the only room in desperate need of a makeover is our living room/dining room. It’s a long room which runs the length of the house and is lovely and light. We’re in the process of deciding on a new sofa so hopefully that will influence a colour scheme soon or vice versa. You know I love to make doll quilts. They are pretty wasted on my 2 year so I’ve gradually been sneaking them away from her and washing them with the idea of hanging them and having my own quilt gallery wall. It was…

    Vintage toys and happy memories

I was charity shopping at the weekend which won’t be a surprise to my regular readers. I often like to share my vintage finds and have a great collection of vintage Fisher Price toys. I’m not quite sure what it is I like about them, but I love to collect them whenever I see one I don’t yet have. I’m a child of the 80s so as well as my Fisher Price toys I had a small collection of My Little Pony, some boxes of Technical Lego and a beautiful dolls house my grandfather made for me. My toy collection…

A day at The Frome Independent

We spent the morning at The Frome Independent, otherwise known at the Frome Artisan and Produce Market. It takes place the first Sunday of every month in Frome town centre and is well worth a visit. A day at The Frome Independent Our first stop was the Cheese & Grain where the Totally Craft & Make It Market was taking place. There were some lovely stalls and I completely fell in love with a beautiful stained glass piece of mistletoe. It might seem a little early to be buying something like this but I could easily have bought some items…

    Back to school: buying uniform

My 4 year old starts Reception next week. They are easing him in gently and he won’t be doing full days until the 22nd. Despite attending Nursery and wearing the school uniform I still needed to buy him a whole load of new items. Thankfully Matalan offered to kit him out for Reception. They gave me the opportunity to do my shopping in store or online and, as his return to school was fast approaching, I opted for online. The Matalan website is pretty easy to use. You can search via the School Shop tab on the homepage and I…

Win a DVD of Thomas and Friends Tale of the Brave

This week we were fortunate to be invited to spend the day at Thomas Land at Drayton Manor to see the latest Thomas & Friends film – Tale of The Brave. My children loved our day at Thomas Land. Tracks are trembling on the Island of Sodor as Thomas & Friends embark on their boldest adventure yet! Available from Monday 1st September, Tale of the Brave…

innocent Alphabet Champion challenge – letter i

I was asked if we wanted to take part in the innocent Alphabet Champion challenge. Innocent have recently re-launched their letter magnets which can be found in packs of smoothies. But this time they’re giving you the opportunity to collect enough letters to spell any name you like. They asked me to take some pictures that represent the letter I to share online. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram hopefully you’ve seen some of them. Then they said how great it would be if my pictures related to going back to school or fruit in some way. Let’s…

Our Summer holiday round up – Week 6

Our Summer holidays really are nearing the end. Week 6 has been the quietest of them all, we’ve spent a lot of time at home and I seem to have spent most of it struggling to get hold of school uniform! We’ve stayed local, venturing to the cinema to see Planes 2 again and enjoyed a few lunches out. My 4 year old had one of his friends from nursery over to play which was surprisingly fun, even if he did want to play with every toy we have. I’ve managed to give some old shelves the Annie Sloan treatment…

5 essential items for a Frozen birthday party

I mentioned the other day that I’ve been planning my daughter’s birthday party which will have a Frozen theme. She’s absolutely obsessed, to the point she has to wear her Frozen tshirts and jumpers every day! Fortunatley for her, Tiger Feet Party were able to send us some items for her Frozen birthday party – we have a Frozen branded tablecloth, cups, napkins and plates too. I haven’t shown her yet as I want her party to be a surprise but the items are perfect and she will love them. We also have pink and blue balloons to match the…
