I saw some pretty recycled decorations made from the gold foil inside a tube of tomato puree so thought I would have a go. It was surprisingly fun so I thought I would share the results in case anyone else wants to try it. All you need to make your own recycled decorations are empty tubes of tomato or garlic puree. I tried both and got similar results with both types of tubes. Clean out your tube The most important part is to thoroughly clean your tube before crafting with it. To do this simply cut both ends off the…

Over half term we stopped off to visit Lacock Abbey and use our National Trust membership cards (which saves us a fortune on days out). Looking back at my blog archives and I can see I wrote a post back in 2013 entitled Family fun at Lacock Abbey. The children were so small on our last visit and couldn’t remember that we had been before. We were excited to bring them back to Lacock for another visit. Lacock Abbey with teens Lacock Abbey is a beautiful property in Wiltshire and a lovely place to visit. As we visited over February…

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family. Five Happy Things {Week 491} I found a free hamster cage on our local Facebook group and now we have a hamster! We had a couple of trips to Pets at Home to pick up supplies and my daughter chose a hamster she liked as she has wanted one…

March 8th is International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Today is an important day to celebrate women’s achievements; educate and awareness raise about women’s equality; call for positive change advancing women; lobby for accelerated gender parity and fundraise for women-focused charities. I think it is so important to celebrate International Women’s Day, and something I love to teach my daughter about. 100 Lives to Inspire You: Amazing Women To celebrate International Women’s Day today I am delighted to share a new book from Little Tiger Group. They have recently published…

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family. Five Happy Things {Week 490} We celebrated St David’s Day on the 1st March with some delicious Welsh cakes. We warmed them up in the AirFryer and they were amazing! I enjoyed mine plain whilst the kids covered theirs in biscoff spread. On Saturday we went into London as…

February passed by quickly, like it usually does. I enjoyed watching the days get longer and my Spring flowers blooming. I love to use my blog to hold myself to account and have written a little update about the things I have been creating over the month. What I made in February 2024 I bought myself a second sashiko table runner as I enjoyed the process of embroidering the previous one so much. The table runner features pre-printed bows and I chose a lovely green sashiko thread to embroider it. It was the only project I took away with me…

Can you believe February is nearly over and it’s nearly March? I am looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday 10th March next month. I don’t expect much from my tween and teen, perhaps more than a grunt from them both would be enough 🙂 Today I wanted to share a giveaway of Mama Still Got It from Louise Boyce, aka @mamastillgotit_ Why not enter for your chance to win a copy of this laugh out loud book for you or a mum friend who could do with a laugh?! Mama Still Got It! {book review} Having a brood…

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family. Five Happy Things {Week 489} I’ve been doing a lot of family history recently, saving all my docs from Ancestry and attending an online weekly class which is really helping my research skills. Yesterday I picked up one of the new Lego Animal Crossing sets from my local toy…
