Num Noms Glitter Lip Gloss Truck Playset review

The weather has been really poor over the last few days which means we have been stuck indoors quite a lot. Thankfully my daughter was sent the new Num Noms Glitter Lip Gloss Truck Playset to review. She loves her cute and collectible Num Noms and this has been a great addition to her collection. Num Noms Glitter Lip Gloss Truck Playset Num Noms are scented food-related collectibles. Take a Num, the outer, soft, squishy, hollow characters, and nestle it on top of a Nom, the inner, hard-shelled characters that are either motorised to scoot around, or filled with flavoured…

If you live in the UK it can’t have escaped your notice that we have a new addition to the Royal family – Prince Louis. My children have been talking about this so I thought we could bake some simple gingerbread crowns to celebrate the royal birth. With the Royal Wedding coming up next month, as well as the Queen’s birthday, these easy gingerbread crowns are a fun way to get your kids baking whilst also celebrating all the upcoming Royal events. Baking with kids – easy gingerbread crowns First I made a batch of gingerbread dough. I used my favourite gingerbread…

The Sapphire Widow by Dinah Jefferies

Over the last few weeks I’ve been reading The Sapphire Widow by Dinah Jefferies. You may remember the author’s name as I really enjoy reading her books and have reviewed some of them here over the last few years. Today I wanted to tell you a little about her latest book, The Sapphire Widow. The Sapphire Widow by Dinah Jefferies Ceylon, 1935. Louisa Reeve, the daughter of a successful British gem trader, and her husband Elliot, a charming, thrill-seeking businessman, seem like the couple who have it all. Except what they long for more than anything: a child. While Louisa struggles…

Mollie Makes Spring Bunny Plushie Kit

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mollie Makes Spring Bunny Plushie Kit I didn’t realise how far behind I had got until yet another issue of Mollie Makes landed on my doorstep this week. Issue 90 included a cute Spring Bunny Plush Kit. Issue 91 came with fabric and…

    Han Solo painted rock

Are you looking forward to the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story next month? Our family all love Star Wars so I can’t wait to go and watch the film with the whole family. We love to craft around the Star Wars films. You can search for some of our Star Wars crafts here. Today we’ve combined our love of Star Wars with our enjoyment of painting and hiding rocks in our local area, and made a Star Wars/Han Solo painted rock to hide at the weekend. For our Star Wars themed painted rocks I used white cobblestones, a…

Mighty Muggs collectible figures from Hasbro

We review quite a few collectibles here because they are so popular with my children. I was exactly the same when I was younger, I collected rubbers, stickers, pretty much anything. Today there are so many more things for children to collect, many tied to their favourite programme. We were recently sent a couple of the new Mighty Muggs from Hasbro to review. Mighty Muggs collectible figures from Hasbro Mighty Muggs are the new collectible figures from Hasbro. Each collectible hero and villain figure has a push-and-turn head feature that changes their facial expressions which is something we’ve never seen before.…

Petal mermaid nature craft for kids

We have a beautiful magnolia bush in our front garden. The petals are a deep purple colour on the outside and a lighter pink inside, and the bush has recently been in bloom. When we came home one day we noticed that the petals had been falling off (already!) so we picked them up to take a closer look at them. My daughter loves mermaids and I thought the silky smooth petals would be perfect for crafting with. I drew a rough outline of a mermaid on a sheet of card, and she glued them along the mermaids tail. The…

    Exploring Castle Rising with kids

I can’t resist a castle. I just adore exploring the ruins of an ancient castle and whilst we were away in North Norfolk recently we found plenty. I’ve already shared our trip to Castle Acre Castle and Castle Acre Priory – both amazing historic sites to visit. Today I wanted to tell you a little more abut exploring Castle Rising with kids. Exploring Castle Rising with kids Castle Rising is a picturesque little village near to Kings Lynn, which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1066. The building of the castle was begun in 1138 by the Norman lord…

How to make a DIY Nerf target

My children love their Nerf blasters. They have so much fun with them but needed some kind of target to get more from them. With my son’s birthday party coming up, and a whole bunch of boys running around our house, I knew it was time to make a DIY Nerf target to use at home. I’m going to tell you how we made ours. There are loads of ideas out there for spinning Nerf targets but we wanted to make something a little more substantial. Most can be whipped up in 30 minutes if using cardboard but we really…
