Photo by Karolina Badzmierowska on Unsplash Despite the mini heatwave we’ve experienced this weekend, the signs of Autumn are all around us. Autumn is my favourite month and I have been unpacking my jumpers and boots with glee. We went blackberry picking yesterday and I am enjoying planning filling Autumnal dishes to feed my little family. At this time of year I like to spend some time getting the house ready for Autumn. It seems like we were barely around over the Summer months and now the house is in need of some TLC. Simple steps to get your house ready for Autumn…

I read a lot of historical fiction but I can’t resist a self-help manual too. Over the Summer I enjoyed reading The Organised Mum Method by Gemma Bray. The Organised Mum Method is a structured, manageable and ultra-efficient cleaning routine that ensures all areas of the home are taken care of. It’s easy to follow, effective and ensures that everything gets done in just 30 minutes a day, Monday to Friday. Yes, if you follow the plan you get weekends off! The good news is that the method isn’t just for mums. It’s for anyone who wants to re-assess how…

I managed to read a good few books during the Summer holidays. I love to read and whenever the kids were occupied I pulled out my kindle to read a few pages of my latest book. I was so excited when NetGalley gave me the chance to review The Confession by Jessie Burton. I really loved her first two books, The Miniaturist and The Muse so was keen to read her third book. The Confession by Jessie Burton One winter’s afternoon on Hampstead Heath in 1980, Elise Morceau meets Constance Holden and quickly falls under her spell. Connie is bold…

It is well and truly Autumn here in the UK. It’s my favourite time of year and I love watching the leaves on the trees change colour. I’ve lost count of the number of ‘treasures’ my daughter keeps presenting me with every time we leave the house. She’s as drawn to conkers and acorns as I am and I keep finding little piles of them all over the house. Our Autumn Bucket List There are some great activities you can do with the kids during Autumn so I thought I would make an Autumn Bucket List of the things we…

My youngest just loves horses. She went on her first horse ride last year with Beavers and absolutely loved it. Sadly we can’t squeeze horse riding lessons into our busy schedules of after school clubs and activities at the moment. However she was pretty delighted to be asked to draw her dream horse. She just loves drawing and was so happy to set herself up with her favourite colouring pens and get drawing. Designing a dream horse with PetPlan Equine Now I think that a lot of us dreamt of having a horse when we were younger. But my daughter’s…

During the Summer holidays we were gifted a copy of Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Food by Angela Nguyen. I love to try new things and quite fancied trying my hand at kawaii. Have you heard of the word kawaii before? It is Japanese for ‘cute’ and covers everything from food to clothes and toys. Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Food I thought I would get a chance to look through this book and try out some of the projects for myself. Sadly my 9 year old took the book as soon as he saw it! My son just…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List, especially my special Summer Holidays edition. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Last week just flew by with the children going back to school and me going back to work. Monday Happy List {Week 256} Reading I raced through The Confessions by Jessie Burton, I really couldn’t put it down. My latest book is The Animals…

A few weeks ago we had the floor replaced in our living room. Everything was packed away and I’ve been enjoying unpacking all my craft supplies and re-discovering some half finished projects. This weekend I got my Cricut Maker out as I’ve been thinking up a few projects I would like to make. I remembered that I wanted to write a post about how I personalised my Cricut machine with my name. I absolutely love opening up my Cricut machine and seeing my name! It really is the small things which give me pleasure. Adding your name to your Cricut…

I’ve read a lot of books this year, I totally blame this on signing up to a Goodreads challenge to read 12 books at the start of the year. I smashed my book target within a few weeks which I couldn’t be happier about. I’ve always loved reading and and it’s one of my favourite pastimes. Earlier this year I devoured The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins. You can read my review here. It’s a great book which I really loved reading. It’s perfect for those who love historical fiction set in Georgian London. It recently came out…
