Half term has gone by in a bit of a blur for us. We have been quite busy visiting family and friends. Both the children seem to miss the routine that school brings, especially Little Sis who needs to keep her brain active during the holidays. Fortunately we were gifted a fun STEM kit from Thames & Kosmos featuring their creative young heroine, Pepper Mint, which kept her mind busy. Pepper Mint: The Magnificent Mars Expedition She couldn’t wait to open up the kit. Pepper Mint: The Magnificent Mars Expedition which sees Pepper head off to space on a mission…

Disclosure – this is a paid post in collaboration with Haribo Halloween gives us a great opportunity to enjoy the season. My kids have always loved Halloween. Every year they dress up and go to a Halloween party, they help to decorate the house for our Trick or Treaters, and love to bake spooky treats to enjoy at home on the day. We like to offer a mix of mini bags to our trick or treaters, especially when we know it’s a night where we all share and receive so many treats. This year Haribo asked us to collaborate with…

For me half term = time to read. I love working in a school, especially when I get holidays with my kids, and time to read is a definite bonus. The latest book I picked to read from NetGalley was The Women at Hitler’s Table by Rosella Postorino. I really enjoy reading historical novels and this book is set in the Second World War, inspired by the powerful true story of Margot Wölk. The Women at Hitler’s Table East Prussia, 1943. Hitler hides away in the Wolfsshanze – his hidden headquarters in East Prussia. The tide is turning in the…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday Happy List {Week 262} I’m so happy it’s half term. Seven weeks of school almost finished me off so I’m really glad that we can all have a break from the school routine. We’ve escaped to the West Country for a few days and I already feel so much…

Now the children and I have broken up for the half term holiday I feel that we can really start getting excited about Halloween. We’ve already been to a pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins, we’ve decorated them, and have made a fabulous display. Halloween Haunted House colouring activity for kids I have a few more Halloween crafts and activities to share which will help the kids to celebrate the spookiest of seasons. It’s one of our favourites times of year (after Christmas, of course!), and my kids have been super creative turning everything from oranges to cardboard tubes into…

We have had a lot of wet weekends recently so we were so pleased to be invited to work with Asmodee’s Blogger Board Game club again. We were sent some lovely games and will be sharing our thoughts over the next few months. Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was the Dobble Card Game. Blogger Board Game Club: Dobble Card Game Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, this is a great family game. My 7 year old recognised…

We love pumpkins! We have a whole display of them, thanks to our recent pumpkin patch visit. A few years ago we decorated our pumpkins without carving them. Instead of traditional carving we used washi tape and googly eyes and it was FUN! This year we wanted to try something a little different using the Cricut Maker. This simple cutting machine has really changed the way we craft at home! Pumpkin decoration supplies: Cricut Maker Cricut vinyl Cricut Standard Grip Mat Cricut Transfer Tape Cricut Weeder and Scraper Polar Bear Pumpkin (picked at the Pop Up Farm) Cute and easy pumpkin…
