I was in Asda a few days go and noticed that you could now pick and fill your own Christmas Eve box. For once I am on trend. We started this tradition a few years ago and even have our own Christmas Eve box which I made last year.
Our Christmas Eve box tradition
Our Christmas Even box isn’t a huge thing. After the excess of Advent and Christmas Day itself, it’s fair to see we don’t need more stuff! This year it will be bringing new pyjamas for the children (I really wanted matching family Christmas pyjamas but they were just too expensive and I knew my husband would never wear them). I love the tradition of new pyjamas – Little Sis has some gorgeous traditional ones from Cath Kidston, whilst Big Brother has a lovely Christmassy pug on his.
There will be some delicious gingerbread hot chocolate and an invitation to watch a Christmas film on Netflix (we don’t really do DVDs any more). I want to keep things simple so I’ll be adding some reindeer food, a Santa key (as we don’t have a chimney) and these cute little Santa’s Milk and Snacks for Santa pots which I found in Poundland yesterday. We have a personalised family plate too which is perfect for mince pies and carrots, but I couldn’t resist these!
Christmas Eve might just be my favourite part of Christmas. I love that feeling when the presents are bought, the cards are sent and the food is waiting in the fridge. It’s only then that I feel I can totally relax and enjoy myself.

we have done the christmas eve box the last few years, The first year I got matching family christmas pj’s my husband refused to wear them, I convinced him to put them on for a picture and then he took them straight off. The following year the kids kept saying I hope we get matching pj’s again so we did. Now places like Asda do them the cost is a lot cheaper, and Hubby now happily goes along with the whole thing and wears them through Christmas!
