I hope you all had a great weekend. We had planned a quiet weekend and were really glad we didn’t have to go anywhere yesterday as we woke up to snow! It hasn’t snowed in London for a few years so the children had a blast playing outside in it.
Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things
I was delighted to be names as one of the Top 10 Craft Blog by Vuelio in 2017. I love crafting and it is always lovely to be recognised for something I enjoy doing.
My 7 year old was awarded The Chief Scout’s Bronze Award at Beavers. He’s now been a Beaver for almost 2 years so it’s time for him to start thinking about moving up to Cubs. I can honestly say he has loved every minute of Beavers. He’s had so many fun opportunities, and our whole family have enjoyed some of the trips and days out too!
Over the weekend we made a Gingerbread house! We love gingerbread houses and I bought my son a gingerbread house baking kit which he loved making and decorating. He’s so proud of it, so I’m not sure if we’ll be allowed to eat it or not. We also put up our Christmas tree and outside lights. The children were sooooo excited as they each got a little tree in their bedrooms too. This year (for the first time) we have a red and white theme on our Christmas tree. The children wanted to put on every decoration we own but I managed to persuade them to be a little restrained.
They both loved the fact it snowed yesterday. After breakfast I wrapped them up in lots of layers, hats and gloves so they could play outside. They built a snowman, had a snowball fight and made snow angels too. As you read this I will (hopefully) be at work. I had to take my car out in the snow yesterday to practice as I’d never driven in snow before!
This weekend I sang with my choir at our annual Christmas concert. I love singing Christmas carols and we also sang Vaughan Williams The First Nowell which was just beautiful. I’m looking forward to a few weeks off before we start practising our Easter music.
Have a great week! I’m counting down the days until we go and see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi!

December 13, 2017 at 12:34 pmMy son didn’t do Beavers, but he has just finished Cubs and moved up to Scouts. He gets a lot out of it: seeing his friends, getting physically active and learning new skills. Well done to your son on his award.
