Dinner sorted with Box’d Fresh

Dinner sorted with Box’d Fresh

Posted on December 11, 2017July 21, 2019 by jenny

As a stay at home mum it’s a sad truth that mealtimes fall to me. Breakfast and packed lunches aren’t too bad but by the time it comes to the evening meal I have often run out of ideas – especially after the school run, after school clubs and homework are sorted. The children are easy to feed but I often fall into cooking the same uninspired meals for me and my husband – sorry hubby.

Last week I was sent a complimentary box from Box’d Fresh to try out at home. This is an exciting new recipe box delivery service created by James Bhardwaj, providing ingredients for home-cooked meals at the click of a button, nationwide. It sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

Every week the Box’d Fresh website features six different seasonal recipes, some with meat and fish, as well as a selection of popular vegan options. Whether you’re in the mood for an umami rich Japanese-style steak with a crisp spinach, radish and cucumber salad or a warming vegan butternut squash & coconut curry, there’s something to suit everyone.

Box’d Fresh recipes really deliver on flavour, as they have been developed by chef Chris Gay who has previously worked in a number of pro kitchens, including the widely acclaimed The Shed, Notting Hill. As well as being delicious and healthy, Chris has created recipes with speed and ease in mind – ideally on the table in 30 minutes or less.

I was pretty excited when our box was delivered. It contained two brown paper bags and a Woolcool bag containing everything I needed tow prepare two meals. I’ve never tried anything like this before so I was like a kid at Christmas, unwrapping everything, readying the recipe cards and checking all the ingredients.

pan friend duck breast

We were sent everything to make Pan fried duck breast, sauteed mushrooms, pumpkin seeds and citrus dressing, as well as Sea bass, fennel and tomato salad with balsamic dressing. These sounded pretty delicious to me but also a little out of my capabilities. I needn’t have worried as the instructions were brilliant. My husband actually helped too, he was also pretty keen to try out a new recipe.

We enjoyed the pan friend duck breast last night and it tasted amazing. I would never think of adding little extras like the pumpkin seeds or citrus dressing, but it made for a delicious meal. I also loved the fact it didn’t take too long as I can’t spend too much time in the kitchen when the kids are around. I’m going to be cooking the sea bass for me and a friend this evening and I can’t wait. I’ll definitely be treating us to one of these again!

This look so nice! I am in SUCH A RUT with my cooking, love that it gives you the little extras to spice things up. Could really use this, especially at this time of year when things are so busy.

The pan fried duck breast looks delicious. It’s fun to experiment with new flavours and learn to make new recipes. Sounds like thy make it super easy.
