holidays mindfulness Monday Happy List

Monday happy things {Week 140}

picture for June

We’ve had a really lovely half term break. My lucky children have an Inset Day today whilst I’m back at work for a couple of hours. I’ve been super organised and got their school uniforms ready and PE kits packed for when they do go back on Tuesday 🙂

We were all looking forward to making some half term memories and we packed in quite a lot. We spent a few days with my mum in Wiltshire and pottered around enjoying the weather and relaxing. We took the children to Bratton Camp where they could run around but tried not to do too much.

Back in London we had a family trip into London for a special screening of the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid film thanks to Joules. On the way we visited the Disney Store and spent far too long looking at toys. You can read about what we thought of the film.

fresh elderflower heads

The next day my son and I were invited to a baking event with Lisa Faulkner and Belvoir. We tried our hand at making and decorating Madeleine Hot Air Balloons. We also found out a bit more about how Belvoir make their delicious elderflower cordial and were inspired to make our own. Elderflower is only in season during June and I’ve suddenly started noticing it everywhere! Over the weekend we picked some and have been brewing our own elderflower cordial.

playing with Playmobil fairies

We’ve spent time at home too and the children have been re-discovering all their toys. Playmobil has been pretty popular in our house recently and the children have made some YouTube videos about their favourite Playmobil sets. I’ve managed to fill my MacBook with them but I’m hoping to find some time to edit them all when they are back at school.

girl holding a huge box of Rainbow Magic books

After the success of our Bug Hotel we’ve started work on a new fairy house. My 5 year old is embracing all things fairy at the moment. Last week I bought her a huge box of Rainbow Magic books from The Book People to keep her busy as she learns to read. I thought it would be fun to add to our fairy collection with a new fairy garden too.

    I would have been so envious of that Rainbow Fairy book collection when I was younger, I used to be obsessed with them! Holly The Christmas Fairy was definitely my favourite!
