Lego Creator Expert Gingerbread House

Lego Creator Expert Gingerbread House

There’s a new Lego Gingerbread House available from the Lego Store and I was lucky enough to receive it on Saturday from my lovely husband! When I first heard about it I was pretty excited. It was back in 2015 that I built my last Lego gingerbread house, definitely time to add another one to the display!

Fortunately we live close to a Lego Store and as we are VIP members we were able to pick one up, although I think non-VIPs can buy this set from the 1st of October. It’s part of their Creator Expert range, with 1477 pieces, and designed for ages 12 and over.

This is quite a large set, measuring over 8” (21cm) high, 10” (26cm) wide and 5” (13cm) deep. Inside the box were about 10 bags of Lego, two instruction booklets and a sticker sheet. The set took a few hours to build with my children desperate to help me.

It was fun to build and I quite liked that everyone made a bit of it. It’s part of the Creator range but we didn’t find it particularly difficult to build. The set includes a lovely gingerbread house with lots of detail, a gingerbread man and lady figure with baby, a Christmas tree with presents and toys.

We followed the instruction booklet and loved watching the set come together. The outside of the house is decorated with candy-cane columns, frosted roofs with colourful candy buttons and pink and purple windows. Turn the house around and you can see inside the gingerbread house with a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom.

There are tons of details from the chocolate bed and cotton candy lamp to the stockings hanging by the fire. The set includes a light brick in the fireplace which is a fun feature, it shows on both sides of the house and it switches on when you push the smoke coming out of the chimney.

Special elements include a new-for-August-2019 gold bar element in tan (making up the bed) and transparent 1×1 glitter bricks in purple (in the windows). What do you think? Would you buy it? It’s already on display in our house and will make a great decoration for Christmas (and probably throughout the year too!).

I would love to get this to add to my Christmas Lego display, but will have to step up the ebaying first to justify the cost.
