It’s been a while since I’ve shared a subscription box review but a few weeks ago I was offered a Japan Funbox. Japan Funbox is a service that delivers hand-packed boxes filled with Japanese candies to customers worldwide. I’ve tried a few similar subscription boxes and they are always loads of fun so I was happy to try this.
Last week our Japan Funbox arrived in a large box that didn’t fit through the letter box. I really liked the picture on the box and managed to wait until my children got home from school to open it. This is what we found inside:
There were 6 items and a list of contents so we were able to find out a little more about what we were trying. My children are quite adventurous so were really excited about the Japanese Candy Box – Japan Funbox.
First of all we tried the pizza flavoured crisps with cheese. Now I would never have guessed the flavour from the packet but the taste was pretty good. It was a large bag of crisps and made a good after school snack. Apparently you can only get this brand in Japan.
We do like crisps and also enjoyed the other bag from our Japan Funbox, the Slim Ganko Fried Potato. These were similar to a normal Ready Salted crisp but looked like really flat French Fries.
After these savoury snacks it was time to try something sweet. The children were drawn to the Whistle Candy. They look like oversized polo’s and actually help you whistle. The sweets were grape flavoured and were really nice. The packed included a small cardboard box containing a plastic toy car.
There was a fun Sherbert Lick, also grape flavoured.
Ume-pachi which we would call popping candy. It wasn’t a great translation but I think it was plum flavoured. Popping candy is always a huge hit with my children so I was glad it was only a small packet!
The final product was Mejii Apollo. We’re tried Mejii before and always enjoy them. The packaging was super sweet and was strawberry flavour. The sweets are quite small and it’s easy to eat lots without realising!
We loved trying out the Japan Funbox. It’s a great way to try something new and we always have a lot of fun trying everything out.
As with all subscription boxes, this is a monthly Japanese candy and snack box. Prices start at $14.99 a month for the mini box which we received, $32.99 for the original or $49.99 for a fmaily-sized box. Shipping worldwide is free.
