Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.
Five Happy Things {Week 531}
I know that I am making my Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box in the wrong order but I don’t care. The main project was too much for me so I’ve been stitching the smaller projects, including this English Paper Pieced tree decoration. It’s really fiddly but fun.
I finished reading The Christmas Book Hunt by Jenny Colgan. This was the 32nd book I read in 2024 and I’m happy I’ve read so many great books this year. I’m not going to reach my target of 35 books so I think next year I’ll make my target a little more realistic and manageable!
My son was poorly and missed the entire week of school due to a tummy bug. He was so bored at home and missed out on a lot of events and activities. Fingers crossed he will be better in time for Christmas.
I received a handmade decoration as part of the Holiday Ornament Exchange 2024 and its a sweet little felt peanut!
Yesterday we celebrated the Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year. My husband and I have been listening to The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper which was serialised for the BBC a few years ago. I bought the book but have only read the first few pages, I like the fact we can listen to an episode together and mark midwinter too.

December 24, 2024 at 11:44 amI sometimes find that smaller projects that are easier to complete are more fulfilling! I hope your household ends up feeling better for Christmas.
