Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.
Five Happy Things {Week 529}
Last week I finished reading A Christmas Murder by Mary Grand. The story was set on the Isle of Wight, where I grew up, and it was a great cosy murder mystery.
I’ve featured Simba products before. You’ve probably heard of them and know they make amazing beds, matresses and matress toppers but did you know they have their own range of Simba Slippers ? Designed with reflexology-inspired tech and cushioning for full-body wellbeing the range is a real treat for your feet, offering support in every step.
I’ve been enjoying my Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box. I have to admit I haven’t actually started the main project which is an embroidered Christmas Countdown. Instead I’ve stitched the little ‘extra’ which was a sweet felt Father Christmas figure. I love making things with felt and this was too cute to put aside.
Next weekend we are looking forward to attending Horrible Christmas at London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre which runs from 12th December 2024 to 4th January 2025. The kids love Horrible Histories and I know this show will be a fun Christmas treat. Our current favourite horrible Christmas fact is the reason that carol singers knock on your door and pester you is because Medieval priests threw them out of the church, so ever since they sing outside houses instead.
My daughter and I had fun with some Christmas baking. I found a baking kit to make Gonk Brownies in our local Sainsburys. She just loves brownies so I thought this would be something fun we could do together. She did all of the baking and decorating herself, she’s really confident in the kitchen now.
What has made you happy lately?

Holiday baking is so much fun! I love a good mystery, too. This has been a great week.
I’ve seen Horrible Histories on YouTube. I think Horrible Christmas would be a great time. Have so much fun!
I do love Simba products and ony just recently became aware of their slippers. My daughter used to love Horrible Histories and would have loved Horrible Christmas
The simba slippers look amazing and super comfy..I don’t know the brand but will definitely try to get these awesome slippers.
I LOVE those slippers! I’ve never heard of this brand before!
First, what an adorable blog you have. My first time here. I love this post about happy things in your life.
Some lovely things to make you happy this week! I did not realise Simba did slippers, no – they really do offer some amazing products!
I am not a Christmas murder genre fan but I am interested to read this story. Thanks for the recommendation!
I wish they also showed Horrible Christmas here in our place. My kids enjoyed Horrible Histories and I am sure they would love Horrible Christmas too.
We saw the Horrible Christmas play a few years back, when our kids were more interested in it, and it was so much fun! Hope you have a fantastic time.
I so need a paid of those Simba Slippers! I have heard of the mattress brand but did not know that they also made incredible slippers. I want a new pair and these are perfect!
Horrible Christmas sounds like so much fun, I would love to attend a production sometime soon. Baking is one of my favorite things to do while it is the holiday season.
